The Colts were not giving the Chiefs this deal, you don't give the team you're trying to beat a top 15 pick.

Well yes. At least a first rounder. We;d have to get at least a pick higher than the Niners, who are probably targeting that DL, Kinlaw supposedly the best DL in the draft. Otherwise, SF takes that guy, which would probably be who we'd be targeting to replace some of Jones' production, right? And Every team from 1 through 8 is basically locked in; they aren't trading their picks, as far as I can tell.

So that leaves just 9 through 11, because we aren't trading Jones to the Raiders at 12th.

Anything less than that, and I don't think we're getting the value for Jones that makes it worthwhile. IMHO, of course.

Somebody gets it.

Ballard isn’t going to potentially hand the Chiefs Jeudy, Lamb, or Ruggs.

18 and 26 from Miami would be a dream. If only BoB was running Miami. More likely would be a 1 this year and additional picks this year or next. Indy overpaying for Buckner doesn't mean other teams will do the same. It is entirely possible KC doesn't get greater value for Jones than SF did for Buckner at no fault of their own. That said, it only takes one to make it happen.

Yeah, I have to agree. I'm just looking at this in terms of value straight across between Buckner and Jones, and then what team's needs happen to be vs. what our needs are. MIA has extra picks, but they also have a lot of needs, including QB, so I don't see them dealing away too many 1st round picks.

However, I'm no draft expert at all, so take anything I'm saying here with a couple grains of salt.

Personally though, if Veach accepts anything less for Jones than a top 18 pick and a high 3rd, I'll be disappointed.

On the other hand, you do take away one of the better players from the team you are trying to beat. If Jones is such a Unicorn then why wouldn't Ballard try to take him away from us?

Kinlaw, Simmons, Henderson, or Chaisson over a WR if that was the case for me. WR is so deep I can't see any of those WRs being better than any player listed above then WR at 32, 62 or 96 for the team as a whole. Preferably WR at 96.

It would be good to get Kinlaw but DL is not our only need. My guess is that CB/LB position is also a top priority and doubt we would just be targeting just Kinlaw. Though if Veech was actually moving him, doing the deal as quickly as possible would be worth something as well. You lose a lot of value if you can not bring back Fuller/Breeland or who ever you want to with the 20 million it would free up.

Don’t think Kinlaw or Simmons make it to 13 and I like Henderson and Chaisson but not over those WR’s. I just think one of those guys would be BPA.

Yeah I do not see the Dolphins dealing any of their picks for vets. At least not until they fix/secure their QB of the future. I mean management just got done unloading every decent player they had for draft picks. They have to value those picks more then most. They also need to keep some ammunition in case they need to move up from the 5 if they lock in on Tua or Herbert and want to secure him.

Basically, IMO, the same goes for the first five picks. Every one of those teams desperately needs their pick.

The Chargers are at 6, so no trade there.

CAR at 7 needs their pick.

AZ doesn't have cap room for Jones.

And then we get to where I was up above.

This is what's lost on most of Chief fans....since Jones was drafted in the 2nd round, he's not worth as much as Buckner.

Truth is...he's the superior player...and Veach knows it.

Dorsey absolutely stole him that draft...along with Hill....interesting that the Jones pick was from SF.
