This is a serious question, maybe the subject of a poll for someone who could figure out how to post one.

Assume you are convicted of a crime that requires some jail time: theft of a certain value; DUI; low-level assault, whatever. Which would you rather have:

30 days in jail, or

5 lashes with a cane like they do in Singapore?

I think I might do the lashes and just get it done with. Jails are pretty awful places and they are mind-numbingly boring.
