Spags deserves more credit

I think it was best coaching hire across the nfl last year. Selfishly I hope he doesn’t get another HC job.

The media barely talked about the crazy turnover of players, change of system and how spags nailed it.

It’s crazy. The more I think about it, the more I praise the job Spags did...AND the more inept Sutton seems by comparison

True of any team.

and when you think of who those players were and that they were specifically brought in I think Spags deserves credit there too.

I don't remember anyone attacking HB, but the truth is that Clark played very poorly early on. We didn't really know that his poor play was due to the nerve issue until later in the season.

Without making his injury known, the people who criticized him were only doing so based on what they knew at the time.

I also think that most everyone realized that it was going to take time for the defense to pick up an entirely new system. However, it was still frustrating to see them performing at Bob Sutton levels of suck. We lost 3 consecutive home games, and that was tough to watch.

But, even with the defense coming to life late in the season, and helping to win the SB, I can't see anyone hiring Spags as a HC. He was absolutely inept with the Rams.

Defensive Coordinators like Spags and Gunther, and offensive coordinators like Weiss and McDaniels, are the epitome of the Peter Principle.

Glad to see you mention Daly.

Not sure he isn’t getting the credit he deserves TBH. Masterminded stopping the ‘unstoppable’ Derek Henry and turned a terrible D into a serviceable one in less than a year. Let’s see what he can do with another year (obviously the current situation doesn’t help)

So true! Can't believe he's not getting more praise. Those advanced DB stats last year tell the tail of how he turned our secondary around with basically no-name players.

Completely in retrospect, last year was definitely a fairy tale. Like a modern day Hero's Journey.

With all of the injuries to key starters, including the one to Patrick that had us all feeling like hope was lost midway through the season, coaching changes, under-performing FA acquisitions early in the season, surmounting incredible leads, bringing home the Lamar Hunt trophy, and finally winning the big one.

Now I feel like we've shaken the filthy stigma of being a loser franchise. We're winners. Top of the mountain.

The D was late to the games. Way to many times.
Being down 10 or 17 or 24 points in the 1st quarter is not how KCs D want to start games. Halftime adjustment were excellent. Having an offense that can put up 40 points a half helps bail out a defense that struggles in the 1st half.

Still. Was his 1st year in KC. I look for bigger and better things out of Spags as the years role on.
