He definitely doesn't believe this, but I guess the idea is that Lamar is more likely to improve as a passer than Mahomes is to suddenly become as gifted a runner as Lamar.

Neither situation is likely, but I suppose it is a bit more realistic for Jackson to develop the skills necessary to become a better pure passer than Mahomes is to suddenly shave .5 seconds off his 40 time.

There isn't a single head coach or GM in history who would agree with him, including Lamar's current coach and GM.

It's always trendy to try and take the very best and belittle them. I remember when some people tried to say Clyde Drexler was in the same league as Jordan. That's exactly what you're looking at here.

The funny thing is, because mahomes improved so much as a passer last year he is running less. Mahomes critics always underestimate how good of a decision maker he is. They seem to think he's all arm talent. That's what infuriates me about people who compare him to lamar or Dak.

It's still a fantasy. "Upside" is now used as a term that means "here's a fantasy I want to indulge in".

Players are what they are. Very few players change much from college to pros. They do need to adjust to the NFL games but they don't fundamentally change.
