The objective of an extra point is to kick the football through a set of goalposts. If this is successfully done then the kick is considered good and the offensive team is awarded the PAT.

However, if the kick is blocked, comes up short, or misses wide right or left of the goalposts then it is considered "not good" and the offensive team is not awarded a PAT.
