WE NEED A CULTURE CHANGE!!

The history books tell everyone what is needed to succeed..DEFENSE. And yet here we are, following the same path as the Vikings 98, Rams 2001 and all the other "great" offenses that didn't win a damn thing. Since 2001 the proof is there for all to see!!..Seahawks, Ravens, Denver, Steelers, Patriots, Tampa, Giants etc etc have all won because of good defense and before we waste another year of our genius QB, I believe In the offseason we should tear this thing down and begin the process of building a competent defense so we can have a realistic chance of finally winning a championship.

If it means getting rid of Andy and Veach...DO IT.

If it means getting rid of some of our offensive stars, collecting picks, drafting all defense and spending all the money we have on defense...DO IT

We've seen the mistakes Green bay have made with Rodgers and now finally they have given him a decent defense for the first time In ten years and they look very good. We need to start the process NOW and hopefully Pat would be able to elevate less talented offensive players If need be. Because I simply cannot see any way around this...the current philosophy is a losing hand, PERIOD. We saw it last year and sadly we're gonna see it again this year!!..bank on it.

Get rid of average talent like Sorensen, Ward, Kpass, Pannel, Okafor etc and really focus on making this defense a top ten unit against both run and pass. QB's like Mahomes usually win championships when you give them a decent defense.

In todays team sports with so much money to spend, with free angency along with the fact that the men playing the sport are skilled athletes playing a brutal sport where you could be lucky to not have a career ending injury in 5 years, bot exactly what your expectations are.

My friend this is a thread I started BEFORE we won the superbowl last year...so that post you quoted is not valid now. However the point still stands that we need a culture shift as far as how Veach deals with the defense!!..can't just get by with poor to average talent on that side of the ball anymore...Spags can only do so much.

The defense didn’t play their best, but they were not the problem. The B.S. officiating was. They were on the rough end of several bad calls and they let it get to them and didn’t respond well. You don’t gut the entire unit because of one bad game. They are a still a solid D overall. Could they use a few upgrades (LBer, another pass rusher)? Yeah. But overall it’s a solid group.

The real problem was the patchwork O-Line (we need more depth, at least better depth) and Andy’s coaching. Some really terrible decisions by him. Maybe the Brit thing really was throwing him off his game? I don’t know. But something wasn’t right out there.

Yes, the officiating was one-sided and went down in TB’s favor, but that is not what ultimately cost them the game.

It certainly didn’t help, though.

I want most of our picks and attention on the offense. More weapons,better OL.

Our defense is fine when it is complimentary to incredible offense.

We have a generational QB in his prime. The ultimate weapon.

In the Super Bowl that weapon never got to fire because:


OL couldn't give him time

Weapons other than Hill/Kelce couldn't get open fast.

On defense I would like to add another pass-rusher and a 3 down linebacker. But ONLY when the value jumps out on the board. Otherwise keep stacking our strength.

No-one is saying we should "gut" the defense...but the fact is we need more quality on that side of the ball. For two years we've been poor against the run and tight ends and when that's the case play action becomes problematic. Too many times this defense undone their good work by letting up soft td's down the stretch to make games closer and that was never a good habit to have.

I guess my only point is just to get to the superbowl is an accomplishment in itself. KC has been there two years in a row now, and chances are they will be there next year as well.

I have no doubt that those in the organization need to know where they need to right the ship so to speak. The reality is, and I think you may agree with me, the Chiefs now are lightyears ahead of where they use to be before Reid got here.

Yes there is no doubt we're in a great period with this team. But a good defense gives us a shot to be a dynasty and I hope Veach is on the same page.

The defense was completely overhauled two years ago. Very few guys left from the Sutton defense. Room for improvement sure, but there's a night and day difference between what the defense looked like when they lost the AFC championship game. Need to add a quality edge rusher and maybe a linebacker, but otherwise the focus needs to be on the offensive line.

What about corners? Too many average guys out there and that's a problem.

We had an opt-out and a doc-in-the-box-out. That really hurt us. What they did should not be forgotten. And not in a gracious way.

I'm NOT saying that would have gotten us over the hump, but it hurt a LOT.

Corners are above average when refs not flagging them for breathing on someone. Sneed looks like he is special and Breeland and ward are solid number 2 cbs. Fenton is solid above average depth.

Only thing in the secondary that needs upgrading is sorenson.

Ward is restricted. We can tender him at the 2nd round pick level and it will only cost a couple million - I think a little over 3 - if nobody makes him an offer. I think we should bring back at least one of ward or Breeland.

We need someone who can lockdown one side of the imo. We are one of the few contenders who don't have that. And it hurts more when our pass rush can't get home aswell.

I believe sneed is your guy then. Otherwise, you're looking at spending a ton of money or trading up in the draft for a luxury when this team has more urgent needs. This defense was good enough to win two super bowls in a row - it was our offense that was not.
