Whatever happens, you have to love Veach’s approach

It doesn’t matter whether you get to the AFCCG or SB, if you don’t get it done and there are question marks going into the offseason, Veach is going to make big changes and let his nuts hang.

We’re literally just as blessed to have Veach as we are to have Mahomes/Reid. We just don’t quite realize that yet.

After winning a Super Bowl for the first time in 50 years, trying to keep things together was the right move. In retrospect, it was still the right move because we made it all the way back to the Super Bowl with a mash unit as an offensive line.

Even without the Fisher injury, they had like 9 starting configurations before the AFCCG. That's impossibly bad luck.

This. There was no guarantee Fisher or Mitch would be back to their pre-injury selves and even then, we'd have to pay a rental T for part of the season while Fisher got up to speed. While I hate to see it end for them like this, it's a business and the business is keeping PMII alive. Reiter was going to want a Brink's truck worth of cash for his services and we just didn't have it.

well, if Fisher and Schwartz are healthy for the Super Bowl, we're probably polishing ring #2. In a plague year, getting the band back together was the right move. No plague, and Niang and LDT are in there too.

It's not like it wasn't addressed. And this offseason is different; even without the achilles, Fisher was hobbled with a back issue. Schwartz missed half the season. It's the right move to cut them and fix it.

I wasn't questioning the incremental approach, It was the right thing to do. Your core players were in their prime. All the coaches were back. It was the right move.

Pretty sure we easily could've paid Reiter, but...

A) He isn't nearly worth what he'll get in free agency

B) It looks like Veach has had more than enough of "good enough"

Agree 100%

Dude is as important to this team as Mahomes and Reid.

Since he's been here I get as excited about the offseason as the season itself. Its an uncomfortable thing to walk away from both your starting tackles but its also the right thing to do concerning their injury status. I feel bad for both, but more so for Fisher as I'm confident Veach would have extended him. Its a business, and when you have Mahomes in his prime you have to go for the ring.

I think this is where I'm at: Veach has always (seemingly) made the right moves at the right time, regardless of whether that move is being aggressive or standing pat.....There's a thing or two to be critical of, but for the most part, it's very hard to argue with what he's done during his tenure.

I think the moves today will ultimately prove out to be the right calls....

Veach didn’t go incremental or halfway with the Run it Back strategy last offseason... he went aggressively all in and brought every key contributor back from the Super Bowl team except for Fuller and Ogbah (excluding Damien Williams and LDT who opted out).

Today's events remind me of the end of Godfather 1.

But really, we're all okay with this because Veach did the same thing to a defense that had led the league in sacks and completely went scorched earth with it. It was tough to trust the process but we did.

That's a reasonably limited sample size, and it's entirely possible the OL may suck just as much next year. But I don't want hear any bitching because this is absolutely what was needed. We can't go into the offseason (let alone next season) not knowing what we have in our two pricey OTs.

Veach did what was necessary. In Veach we trust.

One of the biggest knocks about Lamar and the old Chiefs if that they would hang onto their favorites at whatever cost. This regime has dumped loveable guys who were no longer performing at the highest level. Got to respect it at the end of the day this game is all about rings.
