That should have already happened in the Chargers & Eagles games after the defense stunk pretty bad against Cleveland/Baltimore. Those first 2 games had a large enough audience that the defense should have shown some kind of pride against Chargers/Eagles. They still looked like garbage though.

To be fair, they came out strong against the Chargers and only wilted after we turned the ball over three straight times and put them in a hole.

I'm not saying they're a good defense or anything, but that happened.

They had halftime to rest and fell apart in the 4th quarter with the game on the line. Obviously the turnovers by Mahomes & company were horrible too, very costly in a close game.

Exactly. The defense isn't nearly as bad as the media negativity right now. Though again, it doesn't really matter as long as the offense continues to play at an elite level. Against teams like the Bills, they don't need a good defense to bury them!

The 3 first half turnovers did not happen deep in KC territory. They happened deep in Chargers territory. Cost the Chiefs a lot of points, but it also means the offense was on the field for a long time with those drives...which allowed the KC defense plenty of rest in the first half. Chargers had successful long drives on the KC defense. It's not like they were having to defend a short field.

all true, none of which negates what I just said.

My point being, they started that game strong defensively.

They've been absolutely terrible for long stretches, it's only fair to acknowledge when they're not.

Perhaps getting some guys back and some continued reps and the miscommunication problems that are plaguing this team will lessen.

Or not. Maybe it's just the worst defense in the history of football. Probably that. Probably should just fire everyone from Veach on down and see what you can get for Mahomes because we're doomed.

Or go with the approach someone else mentioned the other day. Give up on spending big money for defensive players. It has backfired on the Chiefs going back to Houston/Berry. Spend more money on offense to make it 100% unstoppable. Better (more reliable) 3rd options at receiver than Watkins/Gordon/Hardman/Robinson. Better running backs. And so forth.

The defense gave up only 14 points through 3 quarters. With this offense that’s more than good enough

And only the one score against in the 2nd half against the Browns.

The game is going to hinge on how Allen handles the pressure of SNF and Arrowhead noise.

He kind of became unhinged in the AFCCG...and that was only 5 games ago. He hasn't played particular well against a Spags defense.

I hope KC gets the ball first and scores...keep the pressure on him. Teams gave gone for it on 4th down at least 4-5 times which have definitely skewed their defensive numbers.

Allen is the key. He has to play lights out for the Bills to win (assuming they put the ball in his hands and tell him to win the damn thing). If I were the bill's I'd abandon the pass happy attack and stick to the running game which has really given the Chiefs problems early this season. Ball control on offense and hope to turn KC over a few times. If the game is kept in Allen's hands, it will get ugly for Buffalo real quick!

What about the Bill's leads you to believe they can hang 50 points on the Chiefs? They've played garbage teams this year and lost to the Steelers week one. Yes, our defense isn't great right now but this is the same team that man handled the Bills not once but TWICE last year. Why are some of you guys lacking in confidence??
