Mansionmania Tournament: Round 2, Heat 1 and Round 1 Map
As some discussion fodder from Round 1, I've enclosed a map showing our Round 2 contestants. Apparently we really like Florida and California, along with the West and New England. Note that the US Virgin Islands is still in the competition and isn't shown on the map. Looking through the list, we've picked some juggernauts who will duke it out in Round 2.
Mansionmania continues with our 32 2nd-round contestants. You will choose among each pair of houses with the following assumptions:
I encourage you to click on the maps in the listings to see the general location and neighborhood. Also, I will only enter contestants if they have a sufficient number of photos to judge, as determined by me. Your entries in this heat are: Georgia: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...4_M94996-11832 South Carolina: https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...5_M67832-39919 |

South Carolina with a $550k each yea is a pretty easy option for me. I'd spend the rest of my days beaching and boating.

South Carolina by a mile.
It's young money and well designed versus Georgia is gaudy and old money and looks like a house from 1870

South Carolina all day. Short trip to Charleston and Savannah. Some of the best golf money can buy right down the road in Kiawah. And the extra money?!
The only thing the GA house has going for it that's better is the privacy and acreage IMO. |

SC: I love the ocean view - but I'm not a golfer. Only one acre. The decor does not do anything for me.
GA: Gaudy for my tastes. i'm not a horse person either (but maybe I could be...are they like big dogs? I like dogs.) A lot of acreage. The 8' waterfall in the description looks to be a fountain. I've started to think of this competition as: If I am under house arrest, which place do I choose. I have to spend the rest of my life sleeping in one place. I am choosing the Georgia house, mostly because of the amount of land upon which I can gambol about. The out buildings could be repurposed. I might put in a small 1 barrel brewing operation. Or a small distillery. Who knows...I might get me a horse to ride about my property. I love that SC beach, but that one acre is too confining.

At first I thought it might be a crypt because I thought that was a cross above the door. But as I look at it again, I think it's probably some kind of water storage system, maybe for use on the grounds rather than for drinking.
Back to subject. I like the SC house better, but that lot is just weirdly shaped. However, since I can't play golf any more and I have an adversion to hurricanes, I guess I'll go GA. Edit: I went back and looked at the SC property on Goggle Maps satellite and it appears to be only around 50-60' wide at it's widest point. There are a lot of trees in front so I couldn't see the driveway, but the small portion in front of the house appears to be dirt/sand. Looking at the lot drawing on the realator's map, the frontage can't be more than 15' wide. Amazon would have a hard time finding me there since they seem to have a problem with my 330' frontage now.
