It's hard to feel anything but pretty happy after a 4-game win streak.
I will say that I have lost some confidence in our offense. For the last few years, I just became accustomed to great things happening. Pat would load up to throw downfield and I was like "**** yeah!". These days I'm expecting an errant pass or a tipped INT. At the same time, I have gained a lot of confidence in the defense. If we're able to put the pieces together when it matters down the stretch, we can make it back to the Super Bowl. Like, if the offense that played @ Vegas shows up with the defense against the Cowboys last night? Pssh. We will stomp anyone we play. It'll be a slaughterhouse. And looking at the schedule coming out of the bye, it isn't too bad: Broncos Raiders @ Chargers Steelers @ Bengals @ Broncos Aside from going to LA on a short week, all of those games are pretty favorable for us. We've got a great shot at running the table. |

There's plenty of blame to be spread around for the losses. Jones playing out of position, Gay being hurt, Clark whoknows what, Andy/PMII not adjusting to Cover 2, all have contributed to our 7-4 record.
But the ship appears to be somewhat righted now. There are some things to be cleaned up, like false starts and unsportsman like penalties, dropped passes, and the like. We can't give the all away 22 times and expect to win much in the post season. Sure enough some of those INTs weren't Mahomes's fault, but when you ignore a wide open receiver 10 yards down the field to throw into double coverage 30 yards down, you have to readjust your thinking. Take what the defense gives you, every game doesn't have to be a higlight reel. |

Andy, EB, Kafka, Mahomes, Hill, Kelce etc. Need to find a film room and spend several days dissecting how to attack this cover 2 shell.
We have 2 weeks to figure it out. We have to find the weakness and consistently start to exploit it. The defense is coming into it's own. What the Raider game showed is that the old offense is still in there. If it emerges consistently then we're going to win the Super Bowl. It's really as simple as that. If this team is clicking it wins the Super Bowl. |

![]() 2 Things need to happen on our O over the next 6 weeks: 1. Our Receivers need to stop dropping balls. Period. 2. We need Niang and Remmers healthy and back as options at RT. Wylie at RT makes my stomach feel weak.

The entire point of that cover-2 shell type defense is to take away big plays. When you take away big plays it takes longer to score. When it takes longer to score you aren't going to score as much. In years past we could play threw a 3 and out or two because we could score in 4 or 5 plays and keep lighting shit up. Now a 3 and out means a lower score. So the defense has to step it up. |

There's no reason at all that they can't get the ball to him in space, he demonstrated an advanced route tree at LSU and good hands. Elusive in space, and dangerous. For some reason, we've just not utilized what appeared to be his best traits. You've got Hill clearing out two guys deep; you've got Kelce clearing out two guys in the intermediate range, WR whoever has one guy occupied, and that leaves what, a LB to try to cover Clyde short? I fully expected that to be the plan this season and am totally flabbergasted that they haven't yet. |

The whole reason we drafted Clyde over Johnathon Taylor and Swift was because he was the premier pass catching RB coming out that year. We have waited and waited for that to be in the game plan and it just doesnt happen. After the Vegas game I had dreams about what Clyde could do with a game like that, just letting him do what Darrel did in that game. Finally, I thought, this is how we roll teams that choose to play 2 high safeties. Darrel had the game of his career and it was fun to watch but Clyde in that roll is really going to be a game changer for this team. That would be an unstoppable offense. Which is why the REST of the NFL shit bricks when we drafted him! IT HAS TO HAPPEN! Andy will hopefully use the bye week to realize we have been wasting this guy. He is OUR missing #2 WR. Our 2 high safety ball breaker. By the 4th quarter the long balls will be there if we are destroying the flat and middle of the field. Even if the Defense refuses to bring the safeties down, this is how we win! Its been a weird year for us, with all the refusal to put the best players on the field, moving our pro bowl DT to DE. Somehow getting down to our third string RT who is a guard. BUT TO ME and a few others, THIS is the most un explainable and stubborn decision of all. The secret weapon has been here the whole time. USE IT! |

Right now they have about a half game worth of such plays. Against the Raiders, Vegas altered to 3 high in the 2nd and that allowed us to get our RPO game going. |

Mahomes has just got to keep hitting the underneath stuff and going to the RB dump offs when they see that Cover 2 look. There were also a few times yesterday that he could have used his legs to get close or to the first down marker but he was looking down field. Love that he keep shis eyes down-field but he has got to mix it up and take what's there. A few of those might have been first downs where we otherwise stalled out.
Raiders game was perfect combo of looking deep but also hitting the underneath stuff as well. Just keep that balance going. I Thought yesterday they went back to waiting on long developing plays and they started turtling again. Then they started hitting the underneath stuff again and were moving the ball. Hopefully we are seeing Mahomes getting into that good balance form where he is taking what is there but also keeps checking for the deep shot. |

What we seem to forget is that Mahomes is young and played his college days basically running for his life. That translated into success during his 1st 3 years as a starter. Defenses have adjusted to that so now he has to change his game. Even legendary gunslingers like Favre, Marino, and Namath took the dump-off when it moved the chains. |

Those plays are there but we need to learn to keep taking them. Against Raiders, Vegas D altered in the 2nd half. Think of the Chiefs as a boxer with a deadly right hook. So Raiders kept close to us, and let us jab them in the face for a half. Then they made the mistake of getting frustrated with all the jabs to the face and backed up...then we unloaded on them. Dallas never altered and it still frustrates us when teams don't let us throw our favorite punch. |

Kelce, Hill, and Hardman needs to hit up Tony Gonzalez and have a week of catch practice on the football launchers.
100 catches, consecutive. Drop one, you're back to 1. Kelce's gaffe for the INT was his 7th drop of the season. Not sure what's going on with him but if he gets his consistent, reliable hands back, it will make a world of difference. The drops this year have been absolutely ridiculous across the board. Something like 6 of Patrick Mahomes' interceptions this year have hit receivers first. It's insane.

Think I'll eat some turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes and some chicken & dumplings while I watch the AFC teams beat each other up as the Chiefs rest. Andy and crew will pour through the video and devise a game plan built around what we do best. After the bye our offense will take off and with the improved D we will roll.
