NFL is Rigged: Week 18 edition

The CP consensus is that the NFL is rigged. Welp, as such, I think it’d be great to discuss this week’s script.

The NFL is rigged, so this should be easy. As easy as predicting a WWE In-Ring interview being rudely interrupted by a rival with a steel chair.

Call your shot, what kind of week 18 shenanigans is the NFL up to?

Las Vegas vs L.A: Which new stadium does the NFL prefer? TWO teams in L.A make the playoffs?

Will the NFL write in a tie game sending BOTH to the playoffs?

Will they sneak the Steelers in for one last hoorah for Ruthlessraper?

Or will they write in Lamar Jackson because he generates ratings?

Will they give the most prestigious player (Mahomes) the #1 seed, or do they want to see the Chiefs in the WC round for extra ratings?

1. Yes, i think it is possible that there is corruption, but no, i don't think that's occurring as these men were filthy rich before the NFL, and they're growing richer w/o the necessity of game manipulation. Yes, i will consider it. No, i don't think it's occurring.

2. My theory, as it pertains to this thread? Well....I don't believe the league is rigged. But for the sake of this exercise, i am posting under the premise that it is. The goal is to determine that:

a) If it is rigged, why?

b) Who is doing the rigging? The NFL owners? Vegas? The refs as sole actors? The players themselves? The coaches? All of which are theories that have been tossed around.

c) Whoever is doing the rigging, what or who is it that they favor? Why do they favor them?

d) Can we determine the outcome of games BEFORE they happen, all the way to the SB? If so, who's theories hold up best in that regard? Who was closest to "getting it right" and how did they get there?

As such, i will use ANY theory to argue that it's rigged, because under the premise that outcomes are predetermined, all theories are valid until PROVEN otherwise. We MUST allow all theories to exist as there is no agreement on any one singular theory, therefore we must test them all to find the theory most likely to be valid in a rigged universe.

Ratings are the lifeblood of the NFL and they have whole departments that analyze them with a fine-tooth comb. However, that does not prove the NFL is conspiring with referees to keep games close or pick winners and losers.

With respect to ratings, the NFL knows that protecting star QBs is good for business. Explosive offenses and high-scoring games are also good for business. And they have put rules in place to achieve both of those outcomes in the modern NFL.

Oh, definitely... practically every sports league in America takes steps to maximize offense, because that's what the masses enjoy. And they would be stupid not to protect their best QBs and receivers.

Now that's rich. Weak minded people are the ones who refuse to acknowledge blatant corruption when it's right in front of their faces. This has nothing to do with the Chiefs not winning. I've seen numerous games where it was painfully obvious the refs were steering it a certain direction. There's no reason they need to worry about anyone figuring it out, because most people are like you and take literally everything they see at face value without questioning it. The rest are mostly like me where we know we're getting fed a big pile of shit, but we're so addicted to the game we still can't stop watching.

It's always the same pattern. Team A gets a big play, oops! Doesn't count, phantom holding. Ends up punting. Team B gets stopped on 3rd down, oops! Nope, phantom PI on the defense. Team B ends up scoring. Rinse, repeat. Why is it in these certain games, the refs always seem to follow that same pattern of "incompetence?"

When you see it over and over and over again, it doesn't take a genius or even a*strong minded* person to figure it out. Just common sense.

"Predetermined" is WWE. "Steering results" is not predetermined or scripted. The Chiefs technically could have still won the Bengals game, but they would have had to play literally flawless football and couldn't do so, but neither team did. The difference was without a doubt the officiating. That's not the same as saying something is predetermined.

This is like calling anyone who questions the government a "conspiracy theorist" and lumping them in with Alex Jones and Q followers. That's not at all where most of us are.

BS. We didn't need to play a "flawless" game to win. We had a ton of opportunities, any one of which could have swayed the game in our favor, that we just didn't execute.

Hyperbole aside, it has been mentioned several times in this thread that there are calls that have no defense, that go beyond incompetence and any reasoning.... but, I do feel like those calls are far rarer than some think (like last weekend, there was literally one bad call and one missed false start).

It's one thing to call out those few completely unacceptable calls and another to fish for conclusions whenever there's a pass interference or defensive holding, etc... and it seems like the latter happens quite a bit.

I mean, (and not to lump you in with him) BlackOp one day even said he couldn't think of one game where the Chiefs benefited down the stretch on controversial calls, which reeks of seeing what you want to see and ignoring most everything else.

That's the whole reason for this thread. It doesn't mean we're all completely oblivious to the unexplainable bullshit that happens in the NFL, but I'm also not going to pigeonhole penalties based on a theory, either.

The lopsided officiating we saw on Sunday was clearly developed over the course of the season so to not raise suspension in our week 17 rigging.

why didn't the riggers decide that mitch trubisky should be the next face of the league instead of mahomes? he was in chicago, a much larger media market. more eyes to watch the tv. more presence. instead they chose to make mahomes in lil ole kc the next super star. or why didn't they just have the bears draft mahomes in the first place?

So the refs shouldn't call penalties that we committed because Kelce or Hill dropped passes that would have extended a drive earlier in the game?

I'm going with the Chargers as the NFL's current AFC team of choice. If you're looking at which team right now has the most untapped potential in terms of bringing new fans to the NFL, it's the Chargers.

It would make so much financial sense for the NFL to favor them. They've got the young QB, who says all of the right things. The young coach, who says all of the right things. They've got Joey Bosa who talks about his mental health issues to a national audience. And they are in a HUGE TV market, surrounded by other really big TV markets.

The Chargers are a sleeping GIANT.

I'm calling it now. The NFL will do everything in its power to advance the Chargers to the playoffs and ensure a deep run, most likely a Super Bowl berth.
