Let's talk about the Steelers

And how we are going to destroy them.

MDS’s pick: Chiefs 33, Steelers 14.

Florio’s take: This one is setting up to be another memorable night for the Steelers, and a forgettable one for the Chiefs. All reason and common sense suggests a Kansas City win. But with Mike Tomlin coaching and Ben Roethlisberger entering his final postseason run — and the Steelers embracing a natural and authentic nothing-to-lose vibe, they can do the unthinkable if they can deliver an early uppercut to a flatfooted favorite with players who, no matter what they hear from the coaching staff, will approach this one like the easy win that it should be. It won’t be.

Florio’s pick: Steelers 27, Chiefs 24.

An early uppercut?

The Steelers have 26 points in the first halves of the last EIGHT games…combined.

If most of the team thinks as Najee they might just say let's not even try for Big Ben its his last game, fuq him.

Maybe their o-line will let Chris Jones and Frank Clark to sack the POS.

Doubt they would throw a playoff game. Nothing is guaranteed so I doubt they would do that knowing the playoffs next year are no sure thing.

Yeah, and as someone who thinks if the Chiefs play their typical playoff football it shouldn't be much of a contest, I'll just say it's still the NFL playoffs, so an "easy" win doesn't have to mean 50-3.

Think Cowboys win or the first Broncos win... it could simply mean leading most/all game and knowing the Steelers can't get anything done on offense and pose no real threat even if it's relatively close. I mean, the GDT will still freak out when it's only 17-3 at halftime and then the Steelers score in to make it 20-10 with 10 minutes left and everyone starts assuming they'll win the game.

...but, it could simply be an out of reach game for a shitty offense, and not necessarily the first half of Steelers/Browns from last year.

The Steelers offense — even if they get Juju back — is so bad right now. Let them do and say whatever they have to do to psyche themselves up.

It’s just like Jerome Bettis’ last year!!!!! Play hard win hard for him!!!

1. Bettis didn’t touch the ball every play. He hardly touched it at all in that SB run

2. In his last season, Bettis was a better RB than Rape is as a QB in his final season

3. Bettis’ teammates liked him. I think the majority of Pittsburgh Steelers don’t give a shit about Ben or his happiness

Everyone should send barrages of replies to that, about how it’s been years, and Reek is still in the league. Why are we still being repulsed by Florio’s constant hate, when he PROMISED he’d quit reporting on the NFL. Time to hit the road, Foolrio.

Rapelethisberger literally cannot throw the ball more than 8 yards downfield.

They will need to rely on epic YAC for any type of big play in their passing game.

Yep. And unfortunately for the Steelers, the Chiefs are one of the best defenses in the league against the quick YAC game.

Where they struggle is when they have to play downfield and get into holding/DPI situations.

The Steelers don't have the personnel to exploit that and the Chiefs are going to jump all over the short passing game.

It's such a bad matchup for the Steelers.

And, again, that 05 Steelers team had a top 10 offense and a top 10 defense. This years Steelers team is ranked in the 20s in both. It’s not even remotely comparable

Yeah, an early uppercut. Something like 24-0 early in the 2nd quarter. Pretty much insurmountable for any team to bounce back after getting that kind of uppercut and being caught flat-footed, right?

Has KC ever shown the ability to overcome nasty uppercuts early on in playoff games? I just don’t recall…
