No one is denying that Poles liked Eberflus and had him as one of the guys he wanted.

Literally no one. But it’s in the text YOU posted. Poles came in with a list and that list was compared to ownerships list and then they interviewed based off of that.

So no guarantee that EB was on Poles list but wasn’t on ownerships.

Some of you really need to read the actual filing from start to finish, followed by the studies done by ASU and Global Sports Matters.

Literally no one is saying that Poles went into the interview with the Bears screaming “Bienemy or bust, you old white ****s!!”

But somehow it’s impossible for you guys to admit that he may have had Bienemy on his list of coaching options and got denied on it.

In fact I would almost guarantee that most GM interviews contain the ownership asking the prospective GM for a list of their HC ideas. Poles could have had Eberflus ranked higher than Bienemy and ownership liked that idea.

That’s not a knock on Bienemy, nor is it racist. But it also doesn’t mean that Poles didn’t have Bienemy on his list of potential candidates.

Because that’s pure speculation and goes against the report that Poles demanded control on the hiring process and got it.

And there’s also Poles telling us himself that Eberflus was his guy.

You can try to run in circles with your BLACK GM HIRES WHITE GUY bullshit as some sort of proof all you want - but the above FACTS can't be denied.

It might not be racism as defined, but there's a significant issue with NFL hiring practices.
There's nothing wrong with making this point and asking the question is there, and I've no idea why people take it so personally when it's suggested that, maybe, racism could be one of the reasons.

It might not be, it might be nepotism, the weird phenomenon of people being rewarded for serial failure, the preference for "experience", people hiring in their image re culture, class etc. But I'm not sure the possibility of black people being less interested in teaching/coaching positions is any better evidenced that it being an issue of race. Wouldn't it be useful to keep an open-mind and work towards understanding what the issue is (if you believe there is an issue), because the alternative is probably a lot of talent is just wasted.

I mean the mental gymnastics are absolutely astonishing.
Eb may not be my ideal hC. Raheem Morris and Caldwell are as good as most retreads. It’s hard to justify these guys not getting opportunities when they’re beaten out by underwhelming hires. Even if they are not always ideal they are far better than the worst. You still have guys like Dan Quinn and josh mccown floating in every hiring cycle. Again does not justify 1/32. There is plenty in the pipeline there for at least 1 team to make a safe or skip hire.

Beyond that, You asked for examples of clear cut talent. Who the hell was Sean mcvay before he leaped up the ranks? Who was Brandon Staley? Who was joe judge and Dan Campbell before they got skip level jobs? They could very well be sitting in these organizations. Some just don’t get a chance to skip level. Some may be sitting in an organization that underuses their talents. For whatever reason black positions coaches don’t move up the organization nearly as fast or often.

Poles and kwesi are reliant on the pipelines others have built. Ballard built the organization that allowed eberflus to flow to the top. You know what else black GMs in Chicago and Detroit did? They hired black assistants. Detroit hired duce Staley who was furious about getting passed up over sirianis inexperience.” And a black dc. Chicago hired Alan Williams as their DC. You know what else you’re seeing? Black coaches climb up the defensive ranks with many of them leading their teams to the playoffs. So no, I think you are absolutely wrong on a few fronts. The pipeline was light before but is starting to shine now that it’s getting a chance. It has nothing to do with lack of talent it has to do with lack of chances.

If there was actual proof of racism, you’d present it.

A lack of black HCs does not necessarily mean racism, just like a lack of white RBs, DBs, etc. doesn’t.

Old Lady McCaskey :

"Beinemy? He the mushmouth drunk from KC who treats players like shit and gets arrested for DUIs and shit?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Well, is he a decent coach?"

"Well, probably not. We don't really know, but it looks like the same shit Reid does. Right down to the same **** ups. For all we know, he just repeats what Reid says to Mahomes into his in-ear."

"Hmmm, well....what are our other options?"

Which doesn’t mean that Bienemy wasn’t on that list correct?

If that’s pure speculation then so is the argument of “if Poles didn’t want Bienemy…then that’s telling”. We don’t know that he didn’t. He could have just wanted Eberflus more.

Right?

Absolutely. But an absence of proof doesn't mean it isn't one or part of a collections of reasons. There's no proof that black people like teaching/coaching less. There's no proof it's pure nepotism driving this. There's no proof because often it's very hard to get info on why and how hires are made. Do you think it is 100% impossible that racism is part of the reason?

I never said that racism can’t be a reason for a team or two. I don’t know. It’s certainly possible.

I don’t think the NFL as a whole had a systemic racism issue in regards to coaching though. There are too many teams that have or have had a black man in a top role like GM or HC for it to be about that.
