Whitlock is an idiot, it is a stupid comparison since Kaperdick is a player and Flores is a coach

NOT gonna pick the fly sht out of the pepper. Flores floundered. In the backlash comes Bienemy. My absolute favorite from CU. Is he a good coach? Yes!! Head Coach? I would like to see it but probably not.

Whitlock is one of the better independent minded journalists/pundits out there.

The comparison is appropriate. Flores was willing to take a step back so he could continue in the NFL. Kapernick wasn't willing to humble himself and settle for a much lower salary.

Kapernick if he accepted a low salary on an incentive laden deal and a backup job would have been signed by another NFL team. He was in a position of poor leverage while acting like an NFL team should be happy to sign him at a significant salary.

But Flores didn't flounder. He led the dolphins to back to back winning seasons for the first time in years.

He did lead them to back to back winning seasons, but that's one aspect of his job. He didn't (by his own admission) follow the owner's wishes. If you don't do what your boss asks you to do, that's floundering. Whether you like it or not, it's still part of any job to follow your boss's program or go somewhere else.

He also couldn't get along with the GM or the starting QB. Respectful relationships are part of the job. If those issues were allowed to become so toxic that someone had to be fired that's floundering. In that scenario everyone undoubtedly has some blame to wear but it was still part of his job.

Yeah. But his owners wishes were "lose more games". That's like being a Carpenter and being told "build it so that it falls apart"

True, but again, if you disagree with management's process and are unable to follow it, your best choice is to walk away. Staying and deliberately disregarding the path that the organization has set in front of you is never a good option. If they were unable to communicate their needs to one another and reach some type of middle ground it wasn't ever going to work out.

That is true. As a coach and a dam good one, he did NOT flounder. I was somewhat on board and interested in his case. I thought he acted poorly after the Texans hired Lovey. HC experience and just as loved by players as Flores is.
Not bringing a shit ton o baggage either.

Flores couldnt take the high road and maybe accept the hiring based on merit. He chose to downgrade it publicly and for that I lost respect.

Kinda torpedoed his own cause. That is where he floundered imo

Management told him to lose games. That is something that was unethical and against NFL bylaws and possibly illegal(?) as it relates to gambling and the NFL's new embrace of said activities.

That particular allegation isn't a 'management process'. It is something that the team, if the allegation is proven, should be sanctioned for.

So instead of quietly slinking away he chose to be a whistle blower. Of course he will be attacked for that.
