According to the folks at OverTheCap, Reid’s contract with the Chiefs carries a total of $9.9 million in guaranteed salary over three seasons and a $10.5 million-dollar signing bonus prorated over the life of the contract. His cap hit in 2022 will be an affordable $4.55 million before ballooning to $12.7 million in 2023 and $14.2 million in 2024. The hope for the team is likely that the salary cap continues to balloon with new TV deals around the corner. The key here, however, was keeping that Year 1 cap number as low as possible.

I am surprised that overthecap.com has contract information already. I thought this was NFL Legal tampering period (52 hour window) so contracts become official later.

If the information gets reported to the NFLPA and you have a NFLPA membership, you can access that info and then places like overthecap and spotrac can get to it.

Sidenote - overthecap.com also has Michael Burton's new contract.

1 year, $1,120,000 Base, $152,500 Bonus, $580,000 guaranteed, $1,047,500 Cap. Chiefs will have $732,500 of dead money if they cut him. The contract does not guarantee Burton of being the Chiefs FB this year, but kind a waste of $732,500 if he isn't.

For a deal to happen, it has to be reviewed by the league office. Reporters typically get this info bc they're s lot of admin personnel involved in such a review from the team, player agent and league.
