Reading through this thread on r/nfl I was surprised how complimentary Steeler fans were to JuJu. Blaming most of the offensive issues on Ben.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comment...ing_a_oneyear/

Quote:
He's a 3rd and short clutch machine.

Yep juju was basically our only Rb/Wr/ Te who could catch the football in 2020 so he kinda got pushed into a possession role, excited to see what he can do in KC
Quote:
He's not a legit WR1. But he's about as good a #2 you could ask for. Ultimately safety blanket that also makes the occasional big play. Tough. Won't quit on the team.

I agree with you regarding his skill level but there will be certain situations where he will add some value that we didn't have last year. Again not the route I would have gone but the contract to me isn't as egregious as Clarks

And what else did I do? Traded him 2 years ago and kept such luminaries as Leviska Shenault because I think Shenault will be a better player.

Oh sir, you have backed a bad horse here. My Sandbox actions perfectly mirror my thoughts on SS (and he’ll, Shenault as well for that matter).
And since you brought him up....I'd still trade for Shenault.

Sure.

And again, at this contract the opportunity cost isn’t even a problem. He’s a fine get.

At this point this is mostly just a Clay is an idiot thread.

Don’t agree on the skill level I think he’s better than most do, but totally agree on the contract, it’s pretty low risk.

I like signing him, just wish it wasn't 1 year. Cause next year will make year 3(or 4 depending on your perspective) that we're looking for a WR2.
JuJu on a 1 year deal is better than having him on a zero year deal… i.e. not signing him at all.

JFC the Chiefs just added an established WR who is still just 25 years old on basically a zero risk contract and people are grasping for reasons to bitch.

This is how it’s going to be in this era with minimal salary cap room and Mahomes’ contract.

I prefer Veach maximizing every way possible to continuously improve/upgrade compared to a team like Green Bay whose GM’s going back to Ted Thompson never did shit in free agency to maximize opportunities to improve/upgrade around a great QB and a tight salary cap situation.

Juju Smith Schuster career stats: 5 years, 3855 yards, 11.9 Avg, 26 TDs.

Byron Pringle: 3 years, 898 yards, 13.4 avg., 7 TDs.

Pringle had Mahomes passing to him. Smith Schuster had Big Ben at the end of his career. There's always combine warriors. All that matters is production. It's not even close, let alone the base salary.

I would, as well.

He and JuJu are similar in a lot of ways so I’m sure Veach has already reached out.

Maybe Veach went back to JuJus agent and said “this is our final offer, take it or we’re making a move for another player”…I’d love to have both, but I’m not sure Veach wants that.

Next few years will be interesting.

Herbert is going to get his deal. Wilson is going to get his new deal. Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, too. Watson already got his huge deal, and it doesn’t look as flexible at Mahomes, not even close.

So all these AFC teams better hope they make it happen this year, before their QBs start catching up to Mahomes in pay structure (and passing him).

I'll hold it when JuJu hands it to me, not you.

I want you to think about THIS.

If JuJu merely maintains 90% of his career per game average, next year he gets:

78 rec, 936 yards, 6 TD

And that includes his awful season last year, which was a huge outlier.

THIS IS GONNA BE AWESOME
