Christian Kirk the guy who ruined the WR market. I think that's a little overblown as I pointed out the scheme combined with 0 dropped passes last year.

Tbh IDK the specifics on what they deem catchable for the stat but catch % is probably heavily inflated for Kirk considering him and MVS were utilized very differently in their respective offenses.

We need to think positive about the signing Veach did homework on the man he has a scouting department.

I think Veach wanted a couple of veteran WR signed like Ju Ju and MVS and go draft at least one more in the upcoming draft to develop. I'm thinking it will be with one of the first two picks.

man, some of you guys are ****ing intolerable. Miserable runny shits.

This guy is okay, he's big, he's fast, he's still got some upside. He's not meant to replace Tyreek.

You have to get over that. Nobody is replacing Tyreek. We're adding guys with attributes that can be utilized in a scheme to win reps. Our next 'star' WR will come in this draft hopefully, possibly the next.

but there are plenty of guys in this draft all the way through round 4 that could potentially be stars and Reid is great at using specific skillsets.

We're going to be fine.

Vastly improved last year and had 0 drops. I'm not pretending he's a #1 but rather a solid player and his contract is no detriment

Kind of circles back to my point, and what Titty eluded to earlier about scheme impacting catch %. There's almost a 6-7 yard difference in yards per reception.

Is there a single person talking about this guy being a replacement for Hill?

I'm simply pointing out that he has an extremely low catch %. Much lower than any other receiver on the Packers that got a meaningful number of targets.

I haven't watched him play at all because I only watch Chiefs games and couldn't give a **** about watching any other team play until it's late in the playoffs. Maybe the issue was scheme, or maybe he's one of those speed guys that simply dont get separation on anything but a go route.

Tyreek Hill had 6 drops in 2021. Half of those wound up as INTs charged to our lord and savoir Patrick Lavon Mahomes.

MVS had no drops. And of those no drops, no INTs were charged to the dark villain and league MVP Aaron Charles Rodgers.

Ergo, MVS is better for Mahomes' MVP chances than Hill.

Fight me.

I'm not going to disagree with the ultimate premise of your argument. The worst Mahomes looked was when he was tunnel visioning on his favorite targets. Now he doesn't have one of those targets so hopefully hes more willing to spread the ball around when he's looking for a big play instead of just zoning in on Tyreek.

Those numbers don't tell the whole story - how many of those targets were "uncatchable" or "contested". It's a shit stat comparison because it could mean anything from stone hands to overthrows/poorly thrown passes.

Fox sports actually has a "drops" stat.
MVS:

2020 - 12 GS - 63 TGTS - 7 DROPS - 33 REC
2019 - 10 GS - 56 TGTS - 3 DROPS - 26 REC
2018 - 10 GS - 73 TGTS - 3 DROPS - 38 REC

I'm just messing around. There's a very plausible world where Mahomes is genuinely a product of Tyreek Hill and might be exposed without him - that's the Keenan Allen version. Support for that argument would include the fact that Alex Smith was one of the best deep ball QBs in 2017 despite being Alex Smith. I honestly think this is a possibility we all need to be ready for.

But there's also the version where Mahomes is as good as we think and can elevate the WRs on the team. Give him 4 competent options and he feasts in a comparable way to Hill/Kelce/JAG-/JAG--. Clearly the Chiefs are working toward this vision and it makes a lot of sense as they have the ability to fill gaps elsewhere.

If I'm being honest, I probably lean toward the former until proven otherwise just because I like to set my expectations low. I think Hill papered over so many things that we can't really appreciate. But at the same time, I don't think retaining him was an option for good team building so I'm excited to see Plan B as I think that gives us a better chance for more sustainable success.

I like what we're doing with Schuster and MVS, and maybe Shenault. Defenses adjusted to what we were doing, now we're adjusting to what they have done. These are guys who are still plus athletes and we still have a lot of speed on offense, but getting bigger and more physical players to move chains without needing to go over the top.
