Maybe it was his biggest skill as it was his top receiver's top skill.

People did it to elimate big blowout plays by us which we used to do through Hill. Now we will just have to find a new way to set up the offense which we were going to have to do anyway.

And that's arguably the most relevant stat since people who dismiss him point to the fact that he's drop-prone. I think it's pretty reasonable to see '0 drops' and view that as a young player improving and coming into his own.

Yeah, my thing with MVS is that he's a notch behind JuJu on the both the pecking order and historical production. Both of those guys got lost/stuck in the 3rd/4th option range with their prior teams.

Is either of them built to rise to the top or are they just role players. Curious to see what KC does for the #1 WR. At this point, if you lose Kelce to an injury for any amount of time... the wheels on this bus are flying off.

Then he’s a more expensive version of Hardman rather than Pringle or D-Rob. I actually would consider him a small upgrade over Hardman. I feel like the Chiefs have done nothing but whiff at the WR position outside of Tyreek for almost all of Andy’s tenure. Tyreek was the exception that made it all okay. MVS is a guy I’ve watched a lot and really felt like he sucked. So seeing him get paid a veteran deal and be hyped as part of the answer is not real encouraging 2 days after losing Tyreek.

We passed on DK, McLaurin, and Diontae for Hardman. Now we hand out a huge contract to a #3 WR.

I am getting nervous now that maybe they just don't get it.

Bengals wrs were nothing special until Chase arrived.

Huge contract? What?

Highest paid WR’s are now high 20’s to 30 million. This dude is getting 9

9 million a year is a lot for a #3 WR.

I can justify paying Juju that as a #2. This is an overpay.

There is a reason why teams pay elite players. There is a reason why teams don't overpay Christian Kirk (except dumb teams in FA).

You're kinda oversimplying things if you're boiling everything down to "he's equivalent to Pringle" or "he's a more expensive version of Hardman," no? The guy is 6'4 and fast and has some ability to track a ball downfield. That doesn't sound much like Hardman's role as a gadgety player, does it?

As for failing at the WR position, okay, sure. But you could've said the exact same thing at ILBer and then suddenly we have Bolton and Gay elevating the position. The sample size is relatively small and they've never made an investment equivalent to a first round pick which I'm highly confident they'll be doing here.

You said it yourself: "part of the answer." If we hit on our pick, we have pick/JuJu/MVS at a meaningful discount to Hill/Juju/WR3. I don't think the room will be nearly as good in year 1, but if the pick works, you can see how it could be extremely competent. But we also get to use the 29 and 50 to move up to 15-20 and get an elite edge rusher. Okay, that's good. And we get to use more of the cap space we have to sign Gilmore, Ingram, etc to fill out the roster.

And then next year, we have a younger team with a lot more cap flexibility.

You can't judge this deal just based on year 1 let alone on day 2.

Exactly. I am completely open-minded that MVS is better than his GB numbers indicate, but if that's all we get out of him, not a very good use of cap space. Sign a cheaper JAG and save the cap space for the next impact player.

The next "cheaper JAG" would have been just keeping Pringle, and it saves you a whopping $3M.

That $3M isn't keeping us from signing anyone, and we've improved/gotten younger at the WR position.

I honestly think Khalil Shakir is going to be better than MVS and quickly.

One 2nd round pick and CHEAP for 4 years.

Now again, I am not saying this is the end of the world. We won a Superbowl with Clark overpaid and Hitchens bad contract.

And this one looks like it is 2 years essentially so the reasoning inside the building might be let's just get guys now until we restock with draft picks.

Still don't like the $$$$.

Maybe but that’s FA. In the grand scheme of things it’s a huge deal especially compared to the money Christian Kirk got.

I think the position overall will be cheap, especially when we draft that first rd WR
