Post Tyreek Trade Mock

FA Signing DE Clowney 2yrs ~$10m per

#15 WR Williams (Trade #30 + #62 + 2023 4th)
#29 DT Leal
#50 DE Williams
#94 LB Walker
#103 DB Bryant
#121 DE Malone
#135 S Cross
7th RB Ealy
7th LB Clark (Spinal Surgery)
7th WR Gray
7th OT C Jones

Trade-up? I'm using some of those Tyreek picks to nab a star WR for 5 yrs in London or Williams. We have enough picks to target talent, and enough talent to be patient and wait for Williams to get healthy. Maybe he's as low as our #4 WR on the depth chart this year, but he's #1 next year.

The fanship wants DT Wyatt, but I think he goes before #29 and the truth is he only had 5 sacks in 4 years on an absolutely LOADED DL. Leal will likely be there for us at the end of the 1st, had 8.5 sacks last year, and is being compared to C Jones. Put the two of them together and they could be seriously disruptive. If it has to be DE I like Karlaftis or Ojabo.

At #50 I'm assuming here that Mafe, Ebekitie, and Thomas are gone and I'm choosing between S Williams and Enagbare. Both fit the size spags covets in a DE, Enagbare is 3rd in pressure rating in this years draft and Sam Williams had 12.5 sacks last year. Either is good with me, I'm going with Williams production.

Quay Walker completes or amazing LB Core, or maybe Muma. I'd be happy with JoJo or Anderson as well. If I can, I'm nabbing LB Clark from LSU in the 7th before he hits UDFA as a luxury pick, or maybe OLB Allen from Alabama who I think had some off-the-field stuff.

I'm going DE again a little later in the draft. I really like Malone's versatility or Isaiah Thomas' Production. We can use either as a designated pass rusher type on 3rd downs. Emerson, Bryant, Jones, and Cross are my DB targets if we can get them with those 3rd or 4th rd picks. I know Veach doesn't like to spend too high on DBs in the draft.

After that, I'm hoping Ealy is there as a new return guy with similar skills to CEH, and I'm picking the best available WR and OL depth. I'd be curious if there's anyone with a quality starting RT that would be willing to trade for a future pick, or maybe a former 1st round RB if he doesn't show some sparks early this season.

Ultimately, I picked Tyreek's replacement and Chris Jones' twin in the first. Clowney brings exactly what we need with over a 25% Pass Rush Win %, compared to Frank Clark's sub 5% Pass Rush Win %. I solidified the defense in rounds 2-4, and used our late picks on quality depth.

QB: Mahomes, Henne
RB: Jones, CEH, Williams, Ealy
FB: Burton

WR: JuJu, MVS, Hardman, Williams, Fountain, Gray
TE: Kelce, Gray

LT: Brown, Thuney
LG: Thuney, Allegretti
C: Humphrey, Allegretti
RG: Smith, Wylie
RT: Wylie, Niang, Jones

DE: Clowney, Malone, Kaindoh
DT: Jones, Wharton
DT: Leal, Nnandi, Saunders
DE: Clark, Williams, Danna

OLB: Gay
ILB: Bolton, Carter
OLB: Walker, Clark

CB: Sneed, Fenton, Bryant
S: Reid, Thornhill, Cross, Anderson

K: Butker
P: Townsend
LS: Winchester

OK, since you asked...

All of these guys look really good but to me, one guy stands out and actually reminds me of Tyreek or at least what he brought to the Offense. He is far more polished than Tyreek coming into the league. I would have to consider trading up for this guy as he is a true #1 WR, game breaker, franchise guy!

1) Jameson Williams - I know he is injured but WOW, if ever there was a guy meant to play with Patrick Mahomes in an Andy Reid Offense, its this guy.
He would easily be the first WR drafted if not for the injury which is what allows us to even have a shot at him. If he falls to the late teens or early twenties, this is about as far as I think we could trade up, I would love to see Mr. Veach pull this off!

2) Treylon Burks - 40 time be damned, this guy is a baller! He can take it to the house, he can make contested catches, YAC! He too is a guy that could change a game. He seems like a bigger, better version of Deebo which is hard to imagine but yeah, sign me up!

3) A Group of - Drake London, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave. All very good WRs and each has a unique quality. Would be super happy to land any of these guys. They would clearly help any team they were added to. Olave probably the last of this group just because he seems wide open on most of his catches. Maybe he is just that good but hard to see a guy that open in the NFL on a regular basis.

4) Jahan Dotson - Again a very good prospect but clearly behind these other guys. If he was the only one left at 29/30 I wouldnt be upset if we took him. He is probably the only guy I wouldnt trade up for.

JMO, this is not NFL drafting advice. Do your own research. Past performance is not indicative of future results.

WR J Williams = Tyreek/Waddle’like (ACL)
WR G Wilson = OBJ’ish
WR D London = Keenan Allen/Michael Thomas’sort
WR C Olave = Taller-Tyler Locket
WR T Burks = DK Metcalf-Lite
WR J Dotson = Landry/E Sanders’type

I really love Williams, and think he will fall behind Wilson & London due to injury which gives us a shot at him. London would bring something different for us, but he doesn't get as much separation as the other guys on film. I'm really impressed with T Burks combination of size and speed! I could 100% see us staying put and taking him at #29.

I'm for trading up to get J Williams or staying put and taking T Burks!
I was typing mine up as you posted but its funny, my two favorite are the same. Love to add either of these two! WOW

Jahan Dotson is too little. At that size, he’s gotta be more electric. See below. 5.94 RAS and his tape shows it. He’s ok but meh, not a 1st rounder IMO. I like Rondale Moore way better from last year and I think he went around 45? He’s a little shorter but a freak. Dotson is pedestrian. See below.

Never meant for it to be drafting advice just a look at who the top WR's are in this draft. Of course I understand the "Past performance is not indicative of future results" mind set but you have to start somewhere on the direction you want to go with life after Tyreek. Nothing more, nothing less. It is food for thought.

I'm essentially Trading Tyreek for 2 years of Clowney, 4.5 years of J Williams on a rookie contract, a 3rd, a 5th, plus some additional cap space. If Williams is near as productive as Waddle, or close to as explosive as Tyreek, that's not a terrible deal... Amari Cooper was traded for a 5th and 6th ONLY.

Actually, that's an interesting scenario, had MIA offered Ogbah, Waddle, a 3rd, and a 5th, would we have been interested? I think we would have.

...note that Clowney is a better pass rusher than Ogbah, and you'd get an extra 1/2 year on J Williams contract over Waddle's.

Not great considering ESPN has us standing still and drafting Williams at #29 lol

I'd rather trade down than up in this draft. I know it's tempting to go get the guy you really want but I'd like to keep the picks we got with Tyreek in the long run. If you can acquire more picks in the top 100, I'd do it.

I'd just rather trade down than up.

If Williams is indeed ahead of schedule, considering his injury was "just" an ACL tear, he'll go higher than 20 I would imagine.

You don't win games in the playoffs with jag players. Hoarding picks just to add depth is doing it the Ravens way which is the wrong way. A guy like Williams is worth taking a chance on. That's the only guy I would trade for, however, by adding either a later second or early 3rd. The rest of the picks we keep.

I understand the sentiment. Hell, only 1/3 picks turns out to be a player anyways. But I think our Chiefs have a solid roster, we're top 3 in the league, we should package those picks to target talent we know will explode onto the scene! If only 1/3 picks turns out, then why not package 3 picks to get a sure thing?

Because by trading away picks, you're trading away probability.

If only 1/3 of your picks pan out and you have 9 picks, you end up with 3 players. If you only have 3 picks, you end up with 1.

No ****ing way should we be trading a bunch of picks for anybody.

If only 1/3 picks turns out, then why not package 3 picks to get a sure thing?
There's never a sure thing as close as we all think someone might be.

Many are calling to move up to 15 to get Jameson Williams. Well, it probably takes going to 14 ahead of Philly and making the trade with Baltimore. So, that's 1-29, 2-50, and 4-121. Take all 3 of those picks and take your 3 favorite WRs with all of them. Let's say, for example, I use The Huddle Report's current closest to each slot without going over... You get Dotson, Watson, and Ross.

Do you like your odds Williams is night and day better than all 3 of those? Do you like your overall receiving corps better than if you ended up with all 3 of those? Personally, I fell off the Ross wagon, but he's just and example. I'd probably swap out Ross for Gray. Otherwise, I think I'd take my chances on those 3 versus your 1.
