I get it. It would be nice if Mahomes could sneak it but don’t think Andy will ever call a Mahomes sneak again after his injury.

I feel like we have the tools to defend the Ravens just as well as we can the Bengals. Defense will be DYNAMIC. |

We have 14 going to camp as it is, so I don't think so unless there ends up a UDFA that tickles their fancy or some surprise value cut. It's definitely not impossible.
JuJu, Hardman, MVS, and Moore are pretty well locks which leaves two spots. Josh Gordon, Justin Watson, Daurice Fountain, and Corey Coleman seem like the most likely to truly compete for those spots. Not sure how serious they are about Gordon again but they brought him back and the competition isn't that serious. Watson is a nice special teams guy so he could stick in a role similar to Kemp but has more speed. 6'3" 215 and runs a 4.42. Dominated the Ivy league at Pennsylvania with 3 consecutive 1000-yard seasons. Never did break out though in 4 years with Tampa Bay. Fountain nearly stuck last year on the 53, so he has more than a passing shot. Seems like it'll be him or Watson and not both but you never know. Coleman is a former 15th overall pick but has had issues with attitude and injuries, so who knows with him. He's built a lot like Skyy Moore but has worse hands. If he can be a team player and dedicates himself to being a good player instead of expecting it handed to him, the Chiefs could have a nice little steal on their hands. If not, well bye. Omar Bayless had a really outstanding Senior year at Arkansas State then made Carolina's PS last year so he's very intriguing. Nice size at 6'1" 210 but ran a 4.62 40 and fell out of the draft. I don't think the rest have much shot... Gehrig Deiter is here for Pat's moral support and nothing else, then you have Gary Jennings Jr that's a career PS guy, and Matt Sexton and Chris Finke don't look like anything. If I were to bet, I'd pick Watson and Gordon as the two that stick. I'm hoping Coleman is a changed man because he could be a spark plug, but I won't get my hopes up very high. |

Key might make the roster but it sure as shit isn't going to be at the expense of Cook. Maybe he beats out Bush and Johnson. Maybe. |

I'm not looking at the kid as a long-term starter or superstar. I'm looking at him as a rotational body that at least has some promise to keep getting better. He's built like Emmanuel Ogbah and has a similar career trajectory so far. Like Ogbah and Okafor, he can kick down inside and have some results. I'd prefer to have that guy with at least some upside to go with a veteran like Ingram or Clowney rather than two guys that are what they are. I mean, you look at Ingram too, Green produced last season as much as Ingram has in any of the past 3 years. I dunno, I like that. I'm not projecting him to be TJ Watt, lol. |

Couple interesting updates on the ESPN.com depth chart:
Karlaftis has been moved to the starter at LDE and Chenal the starter at MLB. |

It wastes draft picks and cost money. I think Devon Key looked pretty good in practice and to begin with in preseason games, but he later got exposed when he was behind on a play, his 4.61 speed would not allow him to catch up. We will see how he does this year. It is easy for me to say, but not so easy to do. Don't let another poster's attacking opinion get you down. Enjoy the Chiefs and what they are doing and keep on posting on Chiefsplanet. |
