Yeup.

I'm hard pressed to 'pick a side' here as I'm not particularly fond of either guy, but c'mon McCoy. You were washed. Granted, the RB room looked pretty rough by the end, but you surely didn't appear to be any sort of answer before all that. The ball control thing just doesn't fly with NFL coaches.

I do wonder, and it seemed like McCoy aaaalmost went there in that clip, if Bieniemy doesn't feel like he has a little more freedom because he's a black coach.

In a league that's predominantly black, I'd have to think it would be pretty difficult as a white coach to really berate a bunch of black players. We're in an environment where people are cognizant of those optics and frankly the players themselves seem less likely to put up with it.

But hell, I dunno. Urban Meyer happened so maybe I'm completely off base here and white coaches are bawling guys out as well.

But just speaking for myself, I'd be awfully wary of getting slapped with the racism tag even if I treated everyone identically shitty but as a RB coach, I'm going to working overwhelmingly with black players. It's just not a great look and someone is going to say something about it.

The thing is, McCoy actually looked pretty good that season. The problem was he was holding the ball like a loaf of bread and Reid got sick of him fumbling. Highly doubt EB even had any say in his playing time, so it's a little petty to be throwing him under the bus.

I'm guessing McCoy just loves Andy too much to come at him so he has to blame it on someone else, obviously not himself.

Who cares if Shady McCoy doesn't like him?

It's not EB's job to get the players he coaches to like him. It's his job to make sure they are doing what the Chiefs organization is paying them to do and teach them to the best of his ability.

Not everyone is a player's coach. Not going to read too much into this.

The whole McCoy fumbled was way overblown here. He fumbled like twice. And he wasn't here long enough or get enough snaps to really have any idea if it was a fluke or not. He isn't particularly fumbleprone on his career. As a former RB, I bet EB didn't like his technique of carrying the ball though. But thats how Lesean has always done it.

I have even butted heads with him, but at the same time I know what (Bieniemy) is about. That guy is about working hard for the whole of the team and making sure that everybody is accountable. On top of that, he’s just a passionate guy. He’s a competitor, one of the best competitors that I have ever met because of how hard he works and how much attention to detail that he has.”

You're right. The bigger problem was just that McCoy sucked.

Reid isn't one to kneejerk bench a guy over one or two mistakes until he sees a trend with them.
