Well over half of the reports we have to deal with, and a vast majority of them that involve people being complete dickheads to each other, come from DC. It's obnoxious, and we aren't really able to just ignore it.

As for the poll, I'm actually really surprised that the "nuke it" contingent is as high as it is. I don't personally think that simple answer would help much, but it does make me wonder if we should at least consider de-emphasizing it more (like hiding it from the top list of forums, for example).

The thing that I find funny is how you'll find every conspiracy theory under the sun being ardently proselytized, but the one real conspiracy is being lived out and never discussed.

The real conspiracy is that forces on every side of us want us to disagree and dislike each other. The Russians want it, the Democrats want it, the Republicans want it, the broncos want it, bill belichick wants it, the Chinese want it, and that weird guy that I went to high school with wants it.

That's what social media is all about these days. It's outside forces trying to cause American society to fracture. 90 percent of the DC forum is falling prey to it, and big chunks of society in general. If we really want to fight back, we need to be civil to each other and recognize that we're all looking for the same thing and working toward the same goals. We may have some different ideas about how to get there, but we should all support those different ideas because we don't really know what works until we try a bunch of different things.

There's no constructive discussion that brings anyone together though.

It's the opposite, like Franchise says... it's a place where people can further entrench themselves in their own opinions and separate from the other side.

Just look at this thread... it just gets thrown into the cancel culture bucket for many, with zero thought about the obvious improvements that could be made.

I know the title of this thread is "should it be closed", but I doubt that really makes a difference to the point... it could just as well say "how can DC be improved" and people would jump to "liBs ArE tRyInG tO cAnCeL!!"

I also hang at another football forum with a zero politics policy. During the offseason, its a cricket farm and folks take off for other sites because its boring and stagnant.

The mods would explain that people go to sports to get away from politics and the social issues of the day but over the last few years, the NBA, NFL and even MLB wears politics and social justice on its sleeves so it is getting nearly impossible to keep politics out of sports.

I voted to let DC roll. Its up to the mods to not let it leak into the Lounge

The site is partially (or fully, idk) paid for through ad revenue. And DC is probably as active, if not MORE active than any other sub forum, including The Lounge. You'd have to consider how much traffic could potentially be lost, whether that would effect revenue, and whether that revenue is needed or not.

You may not like DC, but i would not be surprised at all if there are days in which D.C is the most active section of the forum.

And if you don't like it, don't go in there.

Yep, everyone in the middle of the corrupted capitalism profits heavily from it and US voters have largely been manipulated to believe one side loves you and wants what best for you, so vote for them.

Because getting half the vote is better than the alternative of everyone waking the **** up to realize the system is seriously broken and needs a complete overhaul.

Politicians have done a masterful job at distracting us from the real problems by pitting us against each other.

If people knew that they had limited ammo, maybe they would actually post something thoughtful as opposed to carpet bombing the board with the same conspiracy stuff all the time. I'm actually not kidding about the "Russia Invades Ukraine" thread being the worst thread in Chiefsplanet history. I'd like to keep up with that story and discuss it, but that thread is mostly a half-dozen people/bot accounts posting propaganda and ultra-weird conspiracy stuff. If they were only posting once a day in that thread, then I could overlook it and read actual discussions and news.

This is a fantastic idea, and I agree about the Russia Invades Ukraine thread. That thread is baffling to me.
