I think that it's an intentional strategy to claim that "the other side" is trying to destroy the country, because that creates an urgency not to solve problems but to choose a side and always vote for it to keep "the other side" from doing so.

The real revolution in this country is when people choose to kick out all of the incumbents and start fresh with candidates who are not part of the two major party structures.

I don't think any of us believe that the people in this country who tend to vote Republican are trying to turn the nation into a religious theocracy. And I don't think any of us really believe that the people in this country who tend to vote Democrat are trying to turn the nation into a socialist wasteland. Those are political talking points that are designed intentionally to scare and disgust people.

Vote third party. Vote out incumbents. Let's have a real revolution.

I'm actually not kidding about the "Russia Invades Ukraine" thread being the worst thread in Chiefsplanet history. I'd like to keep up with that story and discuss it, but that thread is mostly a half-dozen people/bot accounts posting propaganda and ultra-weird conspiracy stuff. If they were only posting once a day in that thread, then I could overlook it and read actual discussions and news.

I think that is an interesting idea and might be worth a try. You might see peoples creating sock puppet accounts to get around the daily limit though.

It's the opposite, like Franchise says... it's a place where people can further entrench themselves in their own opinions and separate from the other side.

Just look at this thread... it just gets thrown into the cancel culture bucket for many, with zero thought about the obvious improvements that could be made.

I mean, I don’t want dc spilling into the main forum but feel like it’s happened anyway. It feels like we’ve lost a lot of good football posters along the way and let’s just say, they leaned a specific way. Let’s be real, one side of the fence has quite a bit of crossover between dc and main forum where the other side has people who don’t post outside DC. That’s why you have to make “non political” threads to give a voice to different opinions which ends up, shockingly, becoming political. But for opinions that would never get posted in DC.

I don’t know the answer. I want the main forum to be apolitical but just pointing out that in the process separating the two forums we’ve created a problem of one side not really getting much representation. I don’t know how much that plays into some of these posters being less active. It’s just something I’ve observed.
