That really should be the description for the sub forum.

“CPDC: A place where people will go to great lengths to be as toxic as possible to each other…”

I don't remember for sure, but the person got some kind of slap on the wrist for it and the forum went apeshit about it.

That probably could have been the end of it, but several people turned it into a thing of calling others audios as a way of showing solidarity or something, I don't know.

And that kind of forced us to step in. People in DC, years later, still think it's cool to call each other audios (and every political figure ever).... people have been getting banned for it (usually a week for the first offense), then we recently filtered it because the cesspool still can't get enough of adults calling other adults names.... and they also started using "groomer" and of course other vague attempts at calling someone a audio in the most vague way possible (similar to how "I hope I can kick your ass one day" isn't a direct threat).

It never would have been a big deal if it was simply dropped long ago.
I think your perspective is a tad skewed.

Some people may have trolled Dane's hyperventilation for a while, . . years ago.

But CP, and certainly that particular brouhaha, isn't the origin of the accusations in politics and the vernacular of certain contemporary practices.

It certainly would explain a lot if one's assessment of all those matters is that it's just a resurgence of some decade-old CP grudge, but it's more complex than that and precious little of it has to do with CP.

That thread I wandered into early yesterday morning... felt like I had snuck into a Best Buy from the backdoor on Black Friday, got what I wanted, then GTFO before all the crazies were let in and started throwing haymakers.

Yeah - the 'groomer' thing is certainly not a creation of CPDC toxicity, that's for damn sure.

Just another reflection of where we are w/r/t discourse writ large.

(And it's funny. I mean c'mon - it's funny! I mean christ alive it spins them up in a hurry. I don't know if it's a 'hit too close to home' thing or not, but man - you get a whole lot of 'angry online' when you see groomer start getting tossed around)

I feel like I played nice all day.

But as is usually the case, I have about a 24 hour tolerance for most threads in DC before I have said anything I have to say and go about my merry way.

It was actually a fairly interesting conversation for a tick. Backed up by actual testimony from the energy secretary herself, no less!

Yeah, I'm aware of the pedo BS when it comes to politicians, too... we've had to moderate those threads for a while.

And then hang around to ban their mults.
And then when someone decides to start calling people "KD" for kiddie diddler, we ban the use of that otherwise completely meaningless set of initials?
And then ban people for just sort of insinuating someone is a audio without actually calling them one.

...and then yeah, we'll basically reach the point of banning people because they're a douchebag.

And if you think this is all BS slippery slope, you would be wrong and we have the reported posts that would say otherwise.

If we just wanted to wimp out and not deal with it, we would have filtered the word 3 years ago. Don't blame us for not wanting to babysit a forum that's consistently said it doesn't want to be babysat yet will go to great lengths to be as toxic as possible to each other.
No one is saying it wouldn't be hard.

I think the obvious answer at this point is to have two gated DC communities for left-leaning posters and right-leaning posters so no one has to be exposed to ideas that they don't already agree with. You can only be permitted access to one, and it's your choice. And the Libertarians don't get one because they don't want infrastructure.

Heh, I appreciated your responses and the insights from a business perspective that sometimes gets lost in a topic like that.

I lean left on several topics, but it was actually the dense lefty posters that made that thread unreadable in a matter of a few hours.

Yeah, that's exactly the point... why would moderators put a lot of effort into moderating a forum that over and over and over has struck down any kind of moderation (and not just the shitposters who obviously wan that)..... over a topic that amounts to "be as vile and toxic as you want towards each other, just don't call each other this thing"?

And it's not our board, either... chat with AC next time you see him in DC.

1) I already pointed out how the do exhibit that bad behavior. You have yet to actually address those points.

2)I'll underline the pronoun we use to talk about right wing shit posters.

I never said cosmo wasn't complaining, though the post you responded to he didn't whine or cry, only stated he got those messages... so...... not really a honest characterization on your part.

But that besides the point. I responded to your question on do I see "complaining" with no. Then said "Comso has taken the 'when it Rome approach to the environment.'"

Now look women, I tired of your needless bickering because you want to purposely be stubborn.
