People in DC, years later, still think it's cool to call each other audios (and every political figure ever).... people have been getting banned for it (usually a week for the first offense), then we recently filtered it because the cesspool still can't get enough of adults calling other adults names.... and they also started using "groomer" and of course other vague attempts at calling someone a audio in the most vague way possible (similar to how "I hope I can kick your ass one day" isn't a direct threat).

It never would have been a big deal if it was simply dropped long ago.

I think your perspective is a tad skewed.

Some people may have trolled Dane's hyperventilation for a while, . . years ago.

But CP, and certainly that particular brouhaha, isn't the origin of the accusations in politics and the vernacular of certain contemporary practices.

It certainly would explain a lot if one's assessment of all those matters is that it's just a resurgence of some decade-old CP grudge, but it's more complex than that and precious little of it has to do with CP.

That thread I wandered into early yesterday morning... felt like I had snuck into a Best Buy from the backdoor on Black Friday, got what I wanted, then GTFO before all the crazies were let in and started throwing haymakers.

Yeah - the 'groomer' thing is certainly not a creation of CPDC toxicity, that's for damn sure.

(And it's funny. I mean c'mon - it's funny! I mean christ alive it spins them up in a hurry. I don't know if it's a 'hit too close to home' thing or not, but man - you get a whole lot of 'angry online' when you see groomer start getting tossed around)

But as is usually the case, I have about a 24 hour tolerance for most threads in DC before I have said anything I have to say and go about my merry way.

It was actually a fairly interesting conversation for a tick. Backed up by actual testimony from the energy secretary herself, no less!

I think the obvious answer at this point is to have two gated DC communities for left-leaning posters and right-leaning posters so no one has to be exposed to ideas that they don't already agree with. You can only be permitted access to one, and it's your choice. And the Libertarians don't get one because they don't want infrastructure.

Heh, I appreciated your responses and the insights from a business perspective that sometimes gets lost in a topic like that.

I lean left on several topics, but it was actually the dense lefty posters that made that thread unreadable in a matter of a few hours.
