I always thought soccer fields were larger than football fields, so I assumed it was going to be where Sporting KC plays. I guess that's why I was confused.

Much better stadiums this time for the World Cup than in 1994. Yikes bunch of turds back then.

Remember when Arrowhead was shared with a professional soccer team?

Format will be bigger, 48 teams will make it - 16 groups of 3, top 2 will make it... to make the playoffs 32 knockout teams. (The real world cup would start here)

I think FIFA had to go with Kansas City because we were the only city in the running that would have a lot of people really feeling low for being turned down.

Have to give the KC Sports Commission and their World Cup bid committee credit for giving an accurate picture of how much Kansas City loves being included if we say we want to be in the show.

I don't think any of the cities left out have as many people really super bummed out as there would have been here.

I think most of the removed seats will be on the opposing team side because of the stairs to the locker room on the Chiefs side might be much more complicated to move.

Chiefs might put some rebuildable field level luxury lounge there in the extra space when it is a Chiefs game and not a soccer match.

This is massive for KC and the Chiefs. The World Cup will bring thousands of people to the City.

I have been to a couple of World Cups and if a country with a big following is coming I would look at getting your houses on Airbnb as soon as possible as you will make a fortune.

Also the countries hosting usually get a ton of funding to do up the city and to regenerate the stadiums. Most countries build stadiums just for the events and redo every stadium to make sure they are as modern as possible.

As a lot of the stadiums for this World Cup don't need any work to them and there will be no new stadiums I imagine the remaining stadiums will have money thrown at them.

It could mean Arrowhead could be upgraded with federal funding rather than state and could mean that we have a modern stadium a lot sooner than we thought.

If it all goes well I also wonder if Sporting KC could play some games at Arrowhead in the future.

Since there is basically no room near each corner flag at arrowhead, Mark Donovan said that renovating Arrowhead to allow more room in each of the corners was part of the city's bid for the world cup. Not sure what all that will entail, but I imagine the area around the stadium might see some things added around it; might.

As for Sporting, they might be able to in the future, but I don't think they draw enough to make financial sense to have anything but the occasional match at Arrowhead, if any. Maybe if they play a friendly with Manchester United or a similar club like they did back in 2010

Maybe some enterprising entrepreneurs will see the possibility of making some cash by putting some entertainment spots around Arrowhead.

My son wants me to invest in houses & land around there.

Whole lotta reeruns in here to tell us how much they don't care. This is the biggest event to ever come to KC and could do a lot for the city.

Is there some issue with the land around Truman Sports Complex? You'd think it'd be prime spot for some hotels, restaurants right next to them stadiums but... idk. Maybe the gas station that doesn't sell alcohol has a stranglehold on all the land around the complex lol
