The way you originally had posted was fine. The parenthesis make it clearer/easier to read but everything needed was in there.

Well, I'd understand your response even if you weren't kidding.

I should have prefaced my post with 'I don't want to speak for dart but...' or probably better if I had said 'based on what dart has accepted in the past...'
