Oh, good point. Yeah. Let's let Veach go down to the Top Ten Left Tackle Store and get a new starter! Maybe they've got a September special!

I'd let Christian get some work in or touch base with Fisher and see where he's at. Either avenue is worth exploring with how absolutely abysmal Brown has been to start.

Well, the second part is to put Brown over there where he belongs. If he doesn't like it then **** off after the season.

Yes, cost-adjusted Brown is the bigger disappointment. No doubt about it.

But we’re dealing with sunk costs as far as this season goes. So their compensation is entirely beside the point. It’s how easy is it to find replacements mid-season who will outright improve the play at the position.

And the answer for both is: not easy. And that’s certainly not for lack of effort on Veach’s part.

Exactly.

You have a Brown level starter at RT and the OL is fine.

Wylie is making everything worse, and it's disappointing, because he really showed some growth last year, and looked solid in TC.

Deal is, Brown should be the "Brown level starter" at RT, because he's not a LT. The problem is he won't move and if he did, KC is screwed at LT for this season. Both Tackle positions need upgrades IMO going forward after this season. Maybe we can improve RT this season with guys on the roster, but it's pretty much OB at LT this season.

It's not just Brown, Wylie has his own issues too.

Both T's are good football players, but I do not believe they have the foot speed to counter the speed rushers. Bosa and Mack beat them up pretty good and took their lunch.

But my criticism is more heavily on Brown, because this dude wants top Left Tackle money. Well son, top left tackles don't get their ass beat, repeately.

Throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks is generally a bad way to go about protecting your franchise QB.

You try Christian one week and if he's just as bad (which he probably would be) do you then go back to Brown and **** with the line FURTHER?

I'm not crowning Brown's ass. Just trying to get people to be realistic. LTs aren't ****ing pitchers. You can't just pull them randomly when things aren't going well and go back to them a couple games later.

Some cases the dude needs to get his ass thrown on the bench for a game or two to wake the **** up and start playing to his talent and potential. Brown is capable of playing way better than what he's given us so far this season and I'd be trying everything possible to get that out of him. Wylie is a replacement level scrub and not worth wasting any time on except to give him well wishes on his future endeavors.

What other examples do you have of franchise tag level players who were benched for a couple games and then came back and played better because they were more motivated and everything was peaches and ice cream?

Well, usually teams don't franchise tag players that are capable of playing to a level this low so it typically isn't a problem for them in the first place.

Okay. How many teams pay someone 16mm and then replace them with someone paid - say - 2mm after a couple games to motivate them? Just provide a single example and I’ll concede that it’s a possibility and a real thing.

Imagine doing that and then Mahomes gets injured as a result. It’s the worst idea ever.

I think that could work for a guy like Frank Clark. Except for the whole "for a game or two" part. Make it permanent.

Not sure if that'd work for Brown. If he continues to be trash, though, and Andy thinks the backup would be a better option, he definitely knows best.

Well, of course he does. Andy Reid runs laps around everybody here when it comes to football knowledge. Does every post need that disclaimer or something? It's an internet message board made for plebs to share opinions and discuss the team.
