Chiefs I don’t see much talk about Pacheatcode becoming the new #1

I thought I read that he only got like 9 offensive snaps yesterday. And he carried the ball on 8 of those. I was obviously happy to get the TD on that run of CEH, but I also cringed thinking that leads to him continuing to get a bigger share of the snaps. I know we're not ever going to flat out bench Clyde, but I'd like to never see him get the ball in a 3rd and short situation ever again. I'm 100% done watching him run into the back of our lineman and just stop.

McKinnon is typically the runner in on 3rd down, so....

True. I guess I should've said any down and short to go. Or even any down period

I'm really just sick of seeing him dance around in the backfield, miss holes, run into a pile and fall, etc.

The only difference between CEH and the guy you are pining for yesterday was that Pacheco hit a big hole on the left side for 17 yards and CEH hit a big hole on the right side that was 16 yards because the 16th yard was the end zone. Also, CEH did it when we were trailing and Pacheco was taken off the field until we were leading.

I'm not pining for Pacheco. And I'm not sure I agree with your analysis here. One guy has carried the ball 350+ times over a couple seasons and behind different lines. I feel like we have a decent body of evidence that he's average to below average. Catches the ball fine out of the backfield, but not someone who makes chicken salad out of chicken shit.

The other two seem to both 1) run harder and 2) have better vision. Albeit a small sample size for Pacheco. My only point was that I'm pretty sure after seeing the offensive snap distribution yesterday, the Chiefs (Andy) are not ready to get to a 50-50 committee, let alone make Pacheco the starter.

maybe a dumb question but why is he only getting used in 3rd downs? He seems like he's by far the best RB we have and always seems to get extra yards after he gets hit

1) Because he's small and sending him up the middle into a bunch of lineman is probably a surefire way to get him injured at some point during the season, 2) He gets the least amount of extra yards after contact, and 3) He isn't just used on 3rd down.

huh maybe it's just confirmation bias on my part and how he's used. just seems like his runs are more fruitful than CEH's

Its probably because CEH runs like 7 yards straight to get 4.5 yards on average and McKinnon runs 20 yards yards horizontally to get 4.1 yards on average.

McKinnon has 29 attempts. 19 of those have come on 1st down.
