Said it at the beginning of the season and I haven't changed my opinion. McKinnon is our best RB, but you just can't flog him to death.

You are talking about the run that got called back when Thuney literally clothes lined a guy that was in the backfield and probably would have tackled him for a loss, right? How would that not have made a difference?

As for the getting into a rhythm thing...
This board creamed its collective shorts over Derrick Henry for years. What's Henry without a bunch of carries to get into a rhythm and wear the defense down? Probably a 3 ypc back. Especially without good holes. |

Doesn't take away the fact that he juked a couple defenders after that. |

That’s surprising to me, yet he probably averages more carries in the first quarter than Pacheco has had in a full game to date.

Do you even watch CEH? This whole he goes down easy argument is mind blowing to me. Ya there are plays where he gets taken down at the point of contact. And there are just as many plays where hes standing up 3 or 4 guys and pushing for extra yards. Like on that goal line run a couple weeks ago where he was stopped like 2 yards short and bent in half backwards and still managed to stay up and push to the plane for the TD.

I don’t know why anyone would think it was bad at all, considering the defense the were facing.

They're not a thing. Or at least they're an extremely rare thing. Defenses get tired. They get tired chasing QBs and WRs on passing plays as well. And they don't get the kind of rest/rotation that the skill position guys they're chasing around get. The idea that the way to tire out a defense is to run at them doesn't stand up to scrutiny and the idea that a RB will suddenly start seeing holes he wasn't seeing in the first half if you keep giving him the football doesn't pass the sniff test. And again, even if it DID, the juice doesn't justify the squeeze. Half-assing drives in the first half with unproductive runs so that you can have more productive runs in the second half makes zero sense. Just move the damn ball. First drive, last drive and all drives in between. If you're running it well, keep running it. If you're passing it well, keep passing it. But if you aren't running it well early, the idea that you should keep doing it so you can run the ball better (but still move the ball less efficiently than you would passing it) just doesn't make any sense.

He’s no “rookie year” Kareem Hunt but I thought he was alright. I still think McKinnon is their best RB. He has a burst I love & he isn’t afraid of sticking his head into a defender.
