Josh allen (bills)

Has almost 100 rushing yds against the jets and 2 interceptions. Currently down against the jets, but that could change.

Allen reminds me of a prime Cam newton. He's physical and isn't afraid to use his body to take punishment. But I can't help but think he'll have a shorter career like cam as a result of it.

Thoughts? (Slow day waiting for the chiefs)

Josh Allen is a really good QB who is also an exceptional runner. I agree there will come atime where he no longer has that running style as a crutch. In an offense that relies almost exclusively on an aggressive passing game. But he will revert back to becoming a really good passer.

Cam newton was a really good runner who used his running to open up the passing game. Very big difference.

Cant knock on the guy. Now, do I believe mahomes is way better set to pass well even as his athleticism slips? Hell yeah. But I don't really have bad words for Allen. He's a hell of a QB but our guy just happens to be better.

The more fascinating examples are big Ben. Similar bowling ball style but couldn't evolve into a pocket passer. But Allen has thrived in way more structure than big Ben.

Or Russell Wilson who I don't know that many saw how bad he gets without his legs. But Allen is a way better leader than Russell.

I suspect what will happen is he moves toward the mean. Very soon the teams payroll will explode and he'll have to do this all on his own. And eventually his athleticism will slip. Maybe the best comparison is late career Aaron Rodgers.

The Jets will eventually be the Niners of the AFC meaning they will have one heck of defense with offensive weapons BUT no QB to utilize those weapons to take them to the top. Wilson was fortunate their running game was working today because of a beat up Bills defense. But like I said in another thread, Wilson ain't gonna take you anywhere for now.

Bills fans have been holding out hope for years that Mahomes wasn’t going to be nearly as good without Hill. They were way wrong clearly. They don’t seem to recognize though that Allen is much more risk at crashing without Diggs.

It's fair to wonder, especially watching Aaron Rodgers struggle without Adams & MVS.

The biggest question for Mahomes is going to be when he loses Kelce & Andy Reid. We shall see how it goes at that point. Kelce is the main guy he trusts on 3rd down, even when Tyreek was part of the team. And who knows whether the next coach will do a very good job with the offensive schemes & playcalling.

Allen got hurt in the pocket. Throwing the ball.

Probably would have been safer running.

Watching Allen the last few weeks, it's possible he's just going through a funk. But I've also had the lingering thought that Allen just MIGHT have been more dependent on the regular tutelage of Brian Daboll than I have believed to this point (it PAINS me to give Daboll any credit, because I'm still biased against him by how terrible he was with the Chiefs).

If Daboll really was the "Josh Allen whisperer" - as had been written about many times - it is possible that he could regress to the mean for his larger career on a regular basis going forward. Again...don't want to give Daboll that much credit, but we will see how he plays the rest of the season as Daboll's influence gets further into the rear-view.

He’s still having a great season. Dorsey is a good playcaller & QB coach. I’m sure they will get back into a better groove as the season goes along. It seems like defenses in general are having more success this year than recent history. Only 4 quarterbacks are above 65/100 this year in QBR.
