How long can we expect Juju to be out?
Only frame of reference I have is Tua. He missed 3 weeks after his bad knockout in Cincinnati with the Dolphins purposefully holding him out an extra week out of caution.

Knowing Andy he’ll take a similar approach. I bet it’s 3 weeks for him too. I know these things are a case-by-case basis but if you were Andy would you hold him out longer than 3 weeks?

Correct. Regardless of whether he was choked or not, he was in the concussion protocol and the Chiefs didn't exercise any special caution with him, despite him being the most important player at the most important position in all of football.

If Juju is cleared, he'll play.

Like I said, it's going to be interesting to see how it plays out. Everyone on the planet was pretty upset about how MIA handled Tua's concussion(s). Maybe the NFL has already forgotten, maybe not.

Yeah, well Mahomes wasn't concussed. And another high-profile player hadn't just had his bell rung twice in a couple weeks. Just think the context might change how they handle things is all. Not saying they should keep him out.

hell, I was one of those that knew Mahomes wasn't concussed in that CLE game and felt there was no reason to even put him through the concussion protocol at the time.

But, and I could be wrong here, but the NFL/fans/whoever got pretty up in arms over the Tua thing a few weeks ago. Just won't be surprised if JuJu's case is treated with kid's gloves. Thats all.

The difference is that Tua never entered the protocol until after the 2nd concussion. They insisted he wasn't concussed the first time and avoided the protocol.

With Mahomes, even though he may have never been concussed, went through the protocol and was cleared to play.

Juju is in the protocol. There's no bad optics here for the Chiefs. If he's cleared, he'll play.

I just hope they hold him out at least 2 weeks. For JuJu's sake. Cleared to play or not. When it comes to concussions, give these teams more time than they theoretically need.

The NFL has an exhaustive process. There's no need to hold him out just to hold him out. That's silly.

Plus, if Andy holds Juju out after he's cleared just to be cautious he runs the risk of costing Juju quite a bit of cash in incentives for snaps played, catches and yards. Every game is going to matter because he's really close to hitting those numbers. I really don't think Andy would do him like that if he's cleared.

Yea, I just don't see how what Miami did with Tua has any bearing on this, or any other, concussion.

JuJu's money seems to be the big thing a lot of people are missing here. He's not going to want any extra time. The second those doctors clear him to get back on the field, he's putting his pads on and getting out there. Dude is playing for a fat contract and incentives on his current deal. He's not going to sit out just because.

Players don't take these concussions anywhere near as seriously as fans or media. They know what they're risking and they want to be on the field, especially a guy trying to earn a deal like JJSS is.
