My all-time Chiefs teams by round

For discussion purposes, here's my all-time Chiefs team by each round of the draft. I'd like to do free agent teams as well, but that would be a lot more work.

My rule is that I only considered their contributions for the Chiefs. I didn't want to pollute the team with a bunch of old AFL draftees who went to the NFL and never played for the Chiefs.

I do occasionally change a lineup a little if the reason is compelling, or I'll move a player's position slightly (e.g., ILB to OLB) if warranted.

Also, if a slot is blank it means we've never drafted someone in that position (or at some positions we didn't draft two).

Wow, Junior Siavii makes the list at round 2. That's a tough pill to swallow.

I wouldn't argue with Turk McBride or Eddie Freeman in that spot. (I just got an eye tic.)

He was drafted to be Willie Lanier's heir, and the two got into a locker room fight. Willie won and Jimbo was lost to injury, and he never did much after that. I've always been curious what actually happened in that incident.

Chiefs Lore by Rain Man.

I'd have to say our top 3 positions:

1. OL
2. RB
3. TE

Bottom 3:

1. QB (present company excluded)
2. DL
3. WR

Come at me bros!

Here's a fact I never knew, posted from the New York Times in 1976 heading into Week 5:

Willie Lanier is playing outside linebacker, with the rookie, Jimbo Elrod, in the middle.

https://www.nytimes.com/1976/10/08/a...on-sunday.html

So the Chiefs gave Jimbo the middle linebacker job and put Willie on the outside. I'm surprised by that move. But then Willie killed the usurper to his throne and apparently moved back to the middle.

I might put CB at the top of the list. We have good CBs all up and down the list for the most part.

Why Hogan over Stanzi? Was he technically active for more games or something?

I think the sheer buzz and controversy stirred up on CP should elevate him far past Hogan in terms of his importance in team history
