So this game next week between them would determine where that game is played. It’s actually potentially a bigger game than I originally thought and is a prime candidate for SNF if the Bengals lose tomorrow.
Yeah. Basically, it appears to me that if the Bengals lose tomorrow, Bengals v Ravens is the SNF game. Which would be a pretty weak "meaningful" game from a national audience perspective because both teams will already be in. If the Bengals win tomorrow, the NFL will need to be huge Chiefs fans because the SNF will almost certainly be NE v Buffalo. Not sure there is another scenario that really makes sense unless the NFL (I don't even think this is possible due to logistics and TV contracts/obligations ) wants to find a way to play a SNF double header with Sea v LAR and GB v Det.

You could also argue the league loves having mahomes in primetime games which is what everyone outside of this fan base thinks anyway.

It really isn't how it should be done though. I get the jags game. But not a game that impacts other games. Ratings over fairness.

I think the main thing in this decision is that apparently the Saturday games needed to be decided today, so teams could arrange their travel schedules, etc.

So while TEN/JAX might have been better for Sunday night, the NFL won't know the best other game until after tomorrow night's game. So they had to put TEN/JAX on Saturday night, then determine Sunday night after they see who wins BUF/CIN. If Buffalo wins, then BUF/NE looks like the best game.

No idea how the NFL feels comfortable potentially giving away this advantage. It’s the entire reason why the games are TBD - so this situation doesn’t exist.
Exactly. Total BS. But yet so NFL.

Why would one expect that? Just the opposite could be in play if one feels the league wants the Bills to be able to rest their starters.

So what are all the potential impacts? Hard to keep track.

Who potentially benefits/loses if:

BUF wins today, KC wins Sat
BUF wins today, KC loses Sat
BUF loses today, KC wins Sat
BUF loses today, KC loses Sat

Well shit. Not living in KC anymore for a long time, I don’t get to enough Chiefs games. I’ll be in Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show, and I cleared my Sunday schedule to go to the Chiefs Raiders game. Now that they flexed it to Saturday afternoon, I can’t even watch the game, much less go to it with a full schedule of business meetings Saturday afternoon. **** you NFL.

Pretty sure the date and time had been set as 1/8 and TBD.

I would've never fathomed they would've flexed the Chiefs/Raiders to the prior day given the advantage it gives some teams.
