Trent Green does not get injured in the pre-season and remains the Rams starting QB
Dick Vermeil becomes the Chiefs' coach as in our timeline and brings Kurt Warner with him.
Roster construction remains the same as when Dick Vermeil joined KC in our timeline
Kurt Warner leads KC to 4 Super Bowls, winning 2, and puts KC in the trifecta of teams that dominate the AFC (KC, Indy, NE) through the 2000's.
Priest Holmes and Kurt Warner each win NFL MVP twice during the 2000's.

The reality is, we have no way to know if that was true or not. We know that a healthy Fisher would've given us a better chance, but that's all we really know.

So basically the one thing we pretty much know for sure is that if Dee Ford isn't offsides, we win that AFCCG. However, contrary to popular (around these parts, anyway) theory, there is no guarantee that we beat the Rams.

And, just to cover your top 3 examples, Tyreek wasn't particularly close to scoring even though the play started close to the end zone. Playing with that one is akin to "Gordon should've been sent home " in '14. Nothing good came or would've come out of those scenarios.
Yep, this is another issue.

Personally, that 2020 Super Bowl in Tampa would have been tough with or without Fisher. Our defense clearly wasn't going to stop them. They put up 31 points on us essentially just running out the clock the entire second half.

I would like our chances in a rematch just hoping our guys didn't choke (we had so many drops that game), but it's far from a forgone conclusion that we'd have won with Fisher in the lineup.

How confident are we the Chiefs beat the Rams last season in the Super Bowl?

You're talking about a team that fell apart with an 18 point lead at home. Why are they going to LA and winning a road game in the Super Bowl against a Rams team with defensive studs, a motivated Aaron Donald, and Stafford/Cupp playing lights out? With our luck, OBJ doesn't get injured in that game either.

Yep, that would've been very hard to do. Playing back-to-back Super Bowls in the opposing team's home stadium. Would not like our chances at all had that been the case.

What if a certain kicker didn't miss 3 field goals?
What if Denver was properly penalized for greasing their jerseys?

Simple… if the Chiefs had a QB like Mahomes in the 1990’s they would have won multiple Super Bowls.

I know people refute that saying a QB like Mahomes would not coexist with a Martyball/defense-first team… but remember Marty did try to transition away from ground and pound to a more open/West Coast offense in the mid-1990’s but he ultimately never had the QB.

The 1995 Chiefs were not beating the Cowboys in the Super Bowl. You're talking about Steve Bono and no offensive weapons versus a dynasty full of Hall of Famers.

I agree they beat the Steelers in the AFCCG, though I'm more confident about the Chiefs beating the Steelers in 1997 than in 1995.

The Chiefs/Packers in 1997 would be a good question I've thought about a bit. The Packers likely win because of the QB disparity but maybe our defense shuts down Favre and forces some of his infamous INTs. That 1997 Chiefs team had something magical going on. I just wish Gannon started in the playoffs but Marty was a stubborn mule.

We would have won it based on that 95 defense. The Bono "led" offense would have been ground control only and scored based on turn overs giving great field position.

Hell no to this entire thread. Everything that has happened was en route to building a true dynasty. If Dee Ford lines up onsides we probably keep Sutton forever, for example. I don't know what happens with Eric Fisher healthy but it sparked a complete and much needed overhaul of our offensive line.

We were winning that game 28-24 with less than a minute to go. Even Bob wouldn't have been able to **** that up.
Dee Ford lining up offsides and us losing that game was the catalyst for replacing Sutton.

He's saying we may be worse off now if Ford lined up properly because we probably still have Sutton.

The last game of the season the Chiefs need to win to make the playoffs.

That ****ing knucklehead kicks THREE balls OOB. Once with a minute left in the half, setting the Raiders up with great field position whereupon they immediatley march downfield and score a TD to go up 28-24.

The Chiefs battle back to send the game to overtime and ****-knuckle immediately puts ANOTHER one OOB. The Raiders again start in great field position, drive down the field and kick a game-winning FG.

The Chiefs lose and miss the playoffs. 2 weeks later, when the Chiefs should've either been preparing for another playoff game or at least doing some end of season wrap-up, Derrick Thomas is instead driving to the airport on snow covered roads and getting into the car accident that would eventually kill him.

If they play a week later, I think it's fair to say enough would've changed that he's either on a different flight or not on the plane at all. Or shit, maybe he leaves 20 minutes later, has a different car in front of him and changes lanes in a way that avoids the ice patch.

John Baker killed Derrick Thomas. Because he couldn't keep a !@#$ing kick in bounds.

Start Gannon in the playoffs vs. Denver, tell Grbac to **** his mother.

KC wins a ring, Denver doesn't, and the Raiders never sign Gannon. Gruden does squat with the Raiders and is out of the NFL after a few seasons.
