Utterly mind boggling that there are still some people who can’t understand this.

Malice or subconscious bias - the 'why' of it is immaterial to me at this point.

The bottom line is that the trends around Cheffers and the Chiefs should make one take pause and have often directly impacted the outcome.

He's a problem. He's a problem writ large bit a worse problem for Kansas City.

Mere incompetence is Blakeman. Seemingly targeted incompetence, thy name is Carl Cheffers.

Don't expect people to not be pissed off about that.

Great...so the Super Bowl story wants the story to be about the referees...not the players and teams on the field. Because that's why I watch football.

Because whether KC is in the game or not, the fact remains that the league has selected the most flag-happy ref in the game to officiate its crown jewel.

That says something about how they want to see these games managed and it ain't good.

I can see it now:

"Chris Jones cradled the QB to the ground, gave him a bottle and burped him, but 15 yards automatic first down" on a 4th and long to end the game.

Thread immediately pops up here complaining about Jones not getting a sack in the playoffs.

You would think just a few days after being totally embarrassed by idiotic predictions of the Bills SB path and neutral site games, etc; people would be a tiny bit less inclined to claim they know exactly what the NFL is thinking and doing... but here we are.

They're going to play how they played all year. And if all season that yielded 7 flags a game then in the SB it yields 12...man, **** that. That's not a team that was committing more penalties, it's just a referee that's throwing more flags.

And yes, that's bad for the game.

These teams are what they are at this point. What 'could' be called but wasn't all season should have largely normalized over large numbers. And if suddenly all those 'could have been called but weren't' flags are being thrown, then the league has effectively altered the field on the fly. It simply creates bad football and an awful product.
No question. 100% agree. But a lot of flags unbiasedly and consistently applied is at least liveable. It's not optimal but it doesn't make me want to commit genocide. It sucks, but it's not the end of the world. I view it as a coach with too small of a strike zone. It sucks to deal with, but you have to adjust to it. It's going to be a ball all night long. It's the mother****er that strikes out your best hitter because he took one low and way outside. But walks some incredible baserunner on the other side when it's 8 inches further inside and at the knees.

I ****ING HATE one-sided dogshit. No matter the sport. I've played a shitload of basketball with truly garbage refs. I'm good if they're ticky tack all night long. It sucks and I'm not thrilled about it, but mother**** the ****s that are ticky tack for a quarter and rugby for the next or one team in the double bonus before the first PF on the other side.

**** I hate garbage officials.
