***Official 2022-2023 NBA Thread***

Can't believe the regular season starts tonight. Just seemed like the Finals ended a couple weeks ago.

For me, the deal does at least make it harder for teams to just double Luka as some kind of solution for stopping that Mavericks team. They'll still do it anyway but Kyrie will take advantage of that.

I don’t like Kyrie personally but Luka needs help and the Mavs have always failed to attract big name FA in the offseason. Needed to do something to salvage the season or Lukas going to want out after his contract is up in a few years.

wow..This Grizzlies team. Ja tweeted last year about shooting somebody so not shocked at all

Quote:
The Athletic: Associates of Ja Morant verbally accosted Pacers personnel and someone trained a red laser on them from a nearby SUV postgame on Jan. 29.

https://theathletic.com/4157284/2023...urce=twitterhq

Following a game between the Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 29 in Memphis, acquaintances of Grizzlies star Ja Morant aggressively confronted members of the Pacers traveling party near the team’s bus in the loading area of FedExForum, and later someone in a slow-moving SUV — which Morant was riding in — trained a red laser on them.

More: The two members of the traveling party who spoke to The Athletic said that they did not see who shined the laser from the SUV. They also don’t know if the laser was attached to a gun, but they believed it was. A Pacers security guard in the loading area at the time remarked: “That’s 100 percent a gun.”

“NBA Security and league investigators conducted an investigation interviewing numerous eyewitnesses and reviewing video surveillance following allegations made by the Indiana Pacers organization regarding a postgame incident on Jan. 29. While we substantiated that a postgame situation arose that was confrontational, based on interviews and other evidence gathered, we could not corroborate that any individual threatened others with a weapon,” Bass said.

Video of confrontation in-arena.

Details:

During the Jan. 29 game, several Pacers and Grizzlies team members verbally sparred and Morant’s father, Tee, and one of Morant’s longtime friends, Davonte Pack, also directed comments at Pacers players.

In the third quarter, Pack walked onto the court and directed expletives at multiple Pacers players. A game referee interceded, called arena security, and Pack was removed from the floor.

Ja Morant and Andrew Nembhard got into it and eventually James Johnson got involved. Looks like Ja Morant’s friend Davonte Pack was escorted off the floor. https://t.co/etvu1yIXHZ

— Damichael Cole (@DamichaelC) January 30, 2023

After the game, the Pacers players, coaches and support staff entered the loading area to board a team bus. About 30 to 40 yards away from the bus were two parked cars. Pack and four to five other men emerged from the cars, walked to within 30 feet of the Pacers group and began shouting at them.

According to the sources, the remarks directed at them by Pack and others included: “Come get some of this” and “you don’t know how we roll” and “I’ll show you what I got.” Some Pacers players and others yelled back at them, according to the two people present. Pacers, NBA and arena security got between the two groups.

The verbal sparring continued intermittently for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, until Morant entered the loading area. He, Pack and the others dispersed into two vehicles. Morant, Pack and one other person got into an SUV, sources said. The first vehicle turned toward the bus before exiting up a ramp and out of the arena’s loading area. The SUV moved toward the Pacers bus, turned, slowed, and that was when members of the Pacers traveling party noticed a red laser coming from the car and being trained on players, coaches and others.

Hey POND, no offense, but **** your dumbass team right in the ear.

That goes for your boyfriend Steven Adams, too. **** him as well.

Most unlikeable NBA team I've seen in awhile, and that's including every Warriors team with Draymond on it.

What a collection of utter douchebags.

Haha. None taken. If there’s any team that the Grizzlies can talk trash to it’s definitely the Wolves so I understand your frustration.

To be fair, I thought the Wolves would be better this year than they have been when they picked up Rudy. Hopefully they can keep battling and get back into a home play-in game spot. We know how much Minnesota lives for those big moments.

Got nothing to do with the Wolves, man.

You've just got some giant pieces of shit on your team.

It's like the Bengals and Bills had a baby, taught it to be a basketball team, and then grew to despise it so they forced it to live in that shithole Memphis.

Seems like he is a bit of a gangster or at least thinks he is and he probably has surrounded himself with those types of people.

If he continues down this path it's only a matter of time before he finds himself in serious trouble.

Ahhh the Knowmo defense. Traditionally takes the form of something like, "But you had Jovan Belcher..."

Even funnier that you're comparing KG to a talentless hack like JJ.

Memphis talks a lot of shit for a team that hasn't accomplished anything, that's for sure. I have to root for them come playoff time to stop Steph and the Warriors, but they're becoming quite Bengals-like.

Barnes also just dominated them down the stretch of tonight's game to beat them (without Ja, who I gather was sitting out because he and his family are involved in some gangster shit?).

So you’re taking the knowmo defense of not even following along with the conversation. What does JJ have to do with anything? Or are you switching it to be JJ because you know comparing Morant to Garnett would be hilarious. I love that Steven Adams and JJ are the reasons you hate Memphis so much. What did those guys do?

You mean a top 5 all time at his position compared to Morant, who might not even be top 5 at his position in the past 20 years?

Sure, let's go with Morant, then. You're gonna tell me a guy like KG who tells Carmelo Anthony on the court that his wife tastes like honey nut cheerios is just as bad as this Morant shit?
