What does the WR corps need, do you think?
Just want to say, this forum has been awesome the last month or so. End announcement.
So here's the WR corps right now for 2023. Marquez Valdez-Scantling ($11m cap hit) Kadarius Toney ($1.9m) Skyy Moore ($1m) John Ross (vet min) Justyn Ross (rookie min) Ty Fryfogle (rookie min) When you look at this depth chart, what kind of WRs are the Chiefs most in need of? Big, possession body guys? Speed demons? Gadget players? UFAs: JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Justin Watson Here's your free agent options. Here's your draft class options. |

Ross had the scary spinal injury, and a botched knee surgery. Two very serious, but unrelated injuries. Now, has he lost a step? Totally possible. Is he just too far behind to ever catch up? Also totally possible. Might he incur other injuries that end his career before it begins? Sure, that's possible. Is it a given? No. His injuries thus far, while being terrifyingly serious, are not related. I'm not PLANNING on anything from Justyn Ross, but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being a good player. If it's up to me, I'm bringing back MVS, Watson, and offering Hardman a Juju deal to increase his possible payday in '24 since he lost most of the year. I feel pretty good about that plus a Moore development and Toney. |

Guys in that situation that go on to contribute are outliers, so I'll stick with the likely scenario. |

He didn't have spinal injury, he had a congenital fusion that needed to be corrected. This was the big reason teams were scared to draft him.
He didn't have a knee injury, he had a stress fracture in his foot. He certainly shouldn't lose a step from that. He did need a second surgery on it, which is why KC put him on IR. |

That's not quite the same thing. I don't think it's smart to pencil him into the line-up, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be a good player. I don't think anyone is planning on anything with the kid. |

Anyway, There's no reason to dismiss the kid out of hand, but there's also no reason to DEPEND on anything him in your planning. |

I'm solely basing my thoughts on previous history with these situations. Odds are there's not much there so expect that and be surprised if otherwise.

The only thing I worry about with Ross is the foot. Michael Thomas' career is basically over because of it. Sometimes spiral fractures in the foot just never heal correctly. I'm not sure what his fracture is but it's a bit worrisome that he needed a second surgery.
If the neck were an issue the Chiefs would not have signed him at all. The docs here wouldn't sign off. So we'll see. If that foot is healed, I think the Chiefs got themselves a gem. If not, well... turd it is. |

Ross is a ****ing lottery ticket and nothing more. If he hits....****ing awesome. If he doesn't...it doesn't hurt the team in any way.

6'1"-6'2", 200 lbs., 4.5 speed or better, excellent route-running, excellent hands, very good athleticism, high football IQ. Preferably a vet, so great situational awareness and improv capability.

Both Ross brothers are figments of Veach's imagination until proven otherwise.

Woof. Sorry for the derailing. I just watched some Ross highlights today and had it on my mind. Like I said though, I absolutely view it as a lottery ticket. But I’m not going to write him off, yet. Kelce had microfracture surgery his rookie year, and the majority of chiefs fans assumed he wouldn’t amount to much after that.
It was short lived.. but the hype around him was real at OTA’s. Kelce and Mahomes both were raving about him. He was the most talked about rookie by a good margin |

If he gets back to healthy, he's got a legitimate chance to start for this team next year and not just fight for a roster spot. We just have to see where he ends up with it all. I'm pulling for the guy. |
