I bet the Chiefs pay him. The player more often than not eventually wins in this situation. Plus, he did play well down the stretch. I just hope the money is reasonable and we don't have to break the bank

Curious if Veach says "Your performance dipped and gave us cause for concern, so we're offering less."

Or, if OBJ's agent says "You won a SB with OBJ at LT, allowing zero sacks on the biggest stage. Pay him the same or more. We have leverage bc every other option (rookie, FA) an unknown."

I’m thinking they will be looking for more, and this is a very dangerous situation for the Chiefs. They can’t let the optics make the decision for them.

They’ve had him for 2 years now. We were still chipping on his side way more often than you should for an elite LT. They know exactly what they have, and they need to make the most sensible choice. Don’t act out of fear of the unknown, that’s how we ended up with the Bono’s and Grbac’s of the world. Have a plan B and C don’t be afraid to move on to them if needed.

Veach doesn’t really talk out of both sides of his mouth and has consistently said for over a year that they want to get Orlando signed long term.

The question is what coinciding moves do they make after tagging him tomorrow do they make to get under the cap by the start of the new league year March 15th.

At the same time, the cap may end up $100 million higher in 4 years than it is now.

If you can lock him in for 5 years at a deal that seems 'crazy' now, it might look downright reasonable 2 or 3 years from now.

And folks, he's still realy really young for an OL. The guy may well have 10 years in front of him yet.
