You know what's wild, he made $16.62MM on the tag last season, more than the annual avg value of this contract.

So basically we didn’t tag him because we knew there would be no market for him and we were afraid we would end up keeping him. I do wish we could have at least controlled who got him. Not gonna lie, I would’ve preferred he didn’t go to our best competitor.

Ideally you get something back there, but maybe that just wasn't in the cards.

Whatever, doesn't matter at this point.

We know the numbers. He lost 15 million. Even taking off the 6th year at 44 million we included to appease his ego, it was a 5/95 with a 30 million signing bonus and the first two years guaranteed. Depending on how that's structured it's 19 million AAV with roughly 50 million guaranteed. And he and his agent turned it down thinking he was going to get a long term deal at 23+ million AAV with most of it guaranteed on the open market. What an absolute faceplant by both.

His ****ery helped the Bengals get a good deal on a LT though. I don't like that either.

Folks keep parroting this but it simply isn't true. He got paid fair market value as determined by the NFL. Had at the very least 4 teams making offers on the first day of free agency and he signed the best one. It was a fair deal for both sides. Not a discount.

I don't really see how it helps them too much. I don't think a combo of Brown/Williams is really any better than Williams/Collins would have been.

People seem to forget Brown has been horrible much of the last two seasons and was constantly bailed out by Mahomes being a wizard and Andy scheming around his flaws. He will not have that benefit with Burrow.

This signing is a wash for them at best. Brown is simply not good and never will be at LT. He'll be average at best and get his ass kicked at worst on any given day.

He's getting 16 mil a year. That's a pretty good deal for the Bengals all things considered.

Burrow is going to get mutilated with this guy protecting his blindside. It's going to be laughable.
You like being wrong all the time about everything.

Most replaceable player is replaced by $20 million a year player. That's easy?

He is a Super Bowl Champion.

Be honest. If he came back at this deal for us we’d all be a lot more forgiving of his flaws.

All these FA’s always get overpaid. It was a great deal for them. They didn’t overpay.

Yup.

Even the 'anyone but OBJ!' crowd would've been throwing up banners for baller ass Brett veach bending over the noob Agent and getting a pro bowl LT to return for less than X is paying for some RT convert with one good season in Taylor.

Objectively this is a really nice get for Cincy. He's a clear upgrade for them on a middle class LT price tag.

This entire affair leaves a pretty shitty taste in my mouth to be honest.
