RULES

Spoiler!

1. 12 hours for each pick. Unless it's on the weekends.....then your clock can go **** itself.

2. Make sure that you have PMs turned on. After you make your selection, PM the next person up to let them know that they're on the clock. If you know that you aren't going to be on and able to make your selection, PM a list of your desired picks (in the order you want them) to someone else. You can send those to me, or some other poster you trust. Make sure the person who selects before you knows who to alert when your team is on the clock. If you miss your pick, you will be skipped and you'll have to make your pick as soon as you can. If you miss two consecutive picks, you lose your teams.

3. Format your selections as such: *Insert team name* selects Player Name, POS, School. Make sure they are bolded so that people can see them. You can add pictures and explanations if you'd like but they aren't required.

4. Do a search of the thread before you pick to make sure that the player hasn't been selected. If you pick a player that has already been drafted, you face the wrath of the entire thread and you'll have to correct it. So don't make a pick and then leave for 14 hours. Stick around and make sure that you didn't **** up.

5. I and everybody else who help operate this mock try to keep up on NFL offseason news while the draft is in session. We input the comp picks, and we're usually good about adjusting the order for any blockbuster trades that may occur where the previously made picks aren't affected, but sometimes we miss things. It may be a good idea to keep up-to-date on your team's offseason moves regarding their supply of draft picks and let us know if stuff comes up so we can make the changes to the draft order. No, in the end, the true order will likely not be 100% perfect or accurate, but shit happens when you do mocks a month before a draft starts.

Reasoning: the Bears desperately need DT help (especially a 3-tech). If Carter is available at #9 - they’re taking him. If Bresee or Kancey somehow make it to 53, they’re taking them. If not, they will read the board and decide whether they take someone from the next tier at 53, 61, or 64… but I guarantee you they don’t make it past 64 without drafting IDL help.

Posters overdraft CP favorites in the 1st? Cool. Belichick took a 4th rounder in the 1st last year. The Vikings once let their pick time out-- on purpose. New owners and GMs get greedy and want to make "splash" picks all the time at the expense of what is logical to their team needs.

There's a team out there who will overdraft a position the way DJ did. It's happened zillions of times before and it will happen zillions of times again. And they have the benefit of being able to trade up or down. In this mock all we can do is draft for the team as if we're the GM. So you're left with, "Do I just take great players or do I let team need determine this one?"

The purpose of this mock isn't to rival Mel Kiper's 7-rounder. It's to have some fun playing GM with real humans.

This is probably not helpful but I actually think my style as a GM would be to really load up at the high cost positions, DE, CB, WR. I wouldn't care if I was already 4 deep at edge or CB, I'd draft a 5th and be looking to constantly flip them in the last year of their rookie deal for draft picks back - the fans would hate me as a GM.
