As for Brown I am happy he is gone I really didn't like him at LT. Looking forward seeing what Taylor gives us.

OBJ is the Bagels problem now we all should move on. Some of you act as though you care.

It's not exactly ideal for your left tackle to step up AFTER he helps get your QB injured...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I guess you can say he helped, but I'm not calling it stepping up. I'm saying Mahomes lack of mobility made it easier on him.

They don’t though. As I mentioned before, if they believed that they would pay him accordingly. Instead they are paying him like a “better than Jonah Williams” LT.

I mean, he’s an anchor of sorts…

If you wanted to run a power gap scheme and have a QB who is really elusive and forces DEs to take a slow, contained/mush rush …

For the Bengals, I could see him being a different kind of anchor.

They gave him the highest amount of guaranteed money in NFL history for a lineman. No, his AAV isn't that high but the guarantees are.

And like I said before, they don't even have to watch the other games. Just watch the 2 matchups from this year and watch Hubbard and Hendrickson terrorize him for 8 quarters. And it goes without saying that Hubbard and Hendrickson aren't exactly top-tier pass rushers.

I see a lot of Bengals fans (and even some Chiefs fans) that don't understand how pressures are measured. They blame ALL of OBJ's failures on Patrick holding the ball too long to make a play. They don't at all understand that pressure rate is measured to a threshold of 2.5 seconds and ignores the QB holding on to the ball longer than 2.5 seconds.

They all say Burrow gets the ball out faster and that is going to nullify all of OBJ's issues. That pressure rate says the exact opposite and they simply don't understand it.

You sure 'bout that?

I think that's referring to pass rush win rate, not pressures.

I know pass rush win rate is a straight up measurement of how often you hold your block longer/shorter than 2.5 seconds. But I've seen pressures recorded on screen passes before and it's nonsense like that which has me putting very little value on pressures either given up or accrued.

They are, as I understand them, EXTREMELY context specific.

Maybe I do have it backwards and that's why everybody is confused.

The point still stands though. Joe getting the ball out faster than Mahomes isn't going to make a difference when a DE comes screaming across OBJ's face and right into the QB. The ONLY thing that saved Mahomes was his scrambling ability.

I know they were basically looking for a replacement for Williams and OBJ certainly does that but they're acting like he's an All-Pro. In fact, I've seen some of them say he is a 4-time All-Pro because they don't know the difference between the AP team and the ****ing Pro Bowl.

Agree with all here. He does have a lot of guarantees, but he has a relatively lower AAV, shorter contract, and easy outs for the Bengals. Outside of the guaranteed money nothing else in that contract screams cornerstone LT in his prime.

The fans certainly expect him to be, though. And I still can't for the life of me figure out why they wanted him at all after how he got thoroughly exploited against THEIR defense. Coach Lou has to be puking a little in his mouth right now.
