Chiefs selected Texas DT Keondre Coburn with the No. 194 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Coburn (6’2/336) is one of the heaviest prospects in this draft class, but carries it well in a very wide frame. This helps him as a solid run stuffer, as Texas often asked him to take on multiple blockers in the run game. All that mass with stubby arms and thick legs make Coburn an immovable force, in both directions. His athletic testing showed an average player by almost every metric except weight. He won’t offer too much in the pass rush department as his lateral movement mostly stems from blockers redirecting his forward momentum. Additionally, he doesn’t really have an idea on how to deconstruct blocks to shed and chase. On plays to the outside, he is actually usually in position to take away cut-back lanes, but that is often because he isn’t fast enough to overrun the play. All told, Coburn will develop into a two-gapping run stuffer at the next level. This play was noticeable against Alabama, when all their big run plays were when Coburn was on the sideline. He can be considered a budget Brandon Williams.

All I had to read was "violent and heavy hands". I'm good with this pick.

It was essential we got a guy that anchored a gap, draws a double team in run defense. It allows Nick Bolton to flow and play instinctively. Saunders was really good at it, grew into the role. I'm loving this pick.

This is exactly what we needed in our makeup with EDGE getting stronger.

That is a very large young man. This draft has been about as good as anyone could have hoped for. The roster as a whole looks upgraded from last year, especially on defense. Still can add after June 1st cuts if needed.

Another year coming where we should be right in the mix for a chip. Ho hum, another year as a Chief fan.

At this point in the draft this is insane value, great pick. He's wildly inconsistent but has some great tools. Love it.

I wish he didn't have such short arms, but he is definitely a great pick in the 6th round

I don't think he's as good an option as Ojomo would've been, I guess that's the knock, but just as a straight NT I think it's what we needed. An immovable block.

Man I like it even more after hearing him. I honestly think he's an upgrade on what Saunders gave us and Nnadi. May not click year 1, may need to take some lumps, maybe even year 2, but I am VERY confident he ends up a plus player for us. R6 is it for Veach isn't it?

He's a DT.

I can't claim to care a great deal about his arm length.
