They have a prep called Miralax that you can mix in juice or water that's only about a 1/4 of the volume of GoLytely that's better. You still shit your brains out but you don't have to drink a gallon of the stuff.

I've went the direction of the gallon of the nasty tasting stuff. I always feel that once completed, I should be awarded a Tee-shirt. Kind of like one gets when they manage to eat the 72 oz steak slab, with all the sides.

Had mine in November last year. Found it kind of odd that the prep for people is so different. Brother & my dad had one and their prep was different from mine and different from each other.

Mine was the over the counter Miralax. Think the process was something like take a couple pills, then mix up half of the Miralax bottle and drink it in 10 minutes. Then an hour later mix up the other half and drink it. Taste didn't bother me much. Other than going to the bathroom every 10 minutes, the prep wasn't bad.

The actual colonoscopy was, I guess, a breeze. I remember getting into the room, the doctor going "Ok, roll on your side" and the next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room.

I built it up into my head as some huge ordeal and was nervous going in. It's not. It's easy.

The last one I had, the prep was horrible. I had to drink a gallon of this vile tasting shit. Half of it starting at 6 PM, the other half at 2 AM.

The prep stuff they make you drink is just strange. It's not horrible in a "this tastes like literal shit" way - it's kind of oddly sweet with some earthiness to it. But it definitely does somehow create a little gag reflex, and having to drink it over and over and over and over again builds up to the point that you almost puke it up by the end.

I get to do it for a second time in August (I'm only 41, but they found a couple of polyps the first time around, so I'm on the frequent flyer program). My pro tip is to buy a bidet attachment for your toilet if you don't have it already. It at least makes it more tolerable on the other end.

Back when old uncle Ernie was alive, his doctor set him up for one on a Friday. So, on Tuesday I brought the jug of prep home to him and told him it was for Thursday. Of course when I got home Wednesday afternoon, he had already drank it all and spent the afternoon shitting his guts out.

So I called my neighbor up the road, who was his doctor and he said feed him a decent supper then go back to the drugstore the next day and have him drink another gallon.

By the next night, he said he was as weak as a baby and his ass felt like a corncobbed cat.

53 still have yet to have one. I have a friend that is a GI nurse, tells me what Dr to see. Every year at my annual regular Dr checkup, you know the one you have to have before they'll reup your meds, they ask. No I haven't I say, your office was supposed to set up the appointment. I never received a call.

Not sure who is ****ing up here, my my PCP or the GI office, but just stupid.
