Is there any reason to expect him to miss 6 weeks? If you have to carry him through cutdowns anyway, just make him a gameday inactive while he recovers.

An IR stint seems rash. And a pre-cutdown IR stint that would mandate he's out for the season, would be god-awful.

I can't imagine he's going to all of a sudden start practicing and playing, if in a contract year he's missed this much time.

Seems something wrong we ain't bein told.
