The Seahawks decided to keep a WR that ran a 4.99 40. I never thought I would ever see a guy that slow make it at that position

He would be worth looking at.

But, since he was waived, he would have to pass through a bunch of teams before KC could possibly pick him up.

I've watched all of the Seahawks' preseason games and Bobo doesn't play like a guy with 4.99 speed. He's a pretty decent receiver and will be a chain mover.

But I have a buddy who's kindof a big deal for a publicly traded company. Did the leadership schools and all that nonsense - doing well down in Texas. He told me "hey, all that 'putt for dough' stuff is bullshit. Learn to drive. That's it. Business golf is about keeping the ball in the fairway and then strolling out there with your client instead wandering through the rough looking for your stupid ball. None of those guys give a rip if you 4 putt but they are gonna lose interest in this outing REALLY fast if you keep stealing the cart to go find your ball OOB"

I'll be damned if he's not right. If you could just hit everything 225 and straight, that's PERFECT for business golf..
When I moved here to FL the one thing a buddy told me was to improve my golf game....so for Christmas that year my wife bought me a primo set of clubs....and I spent the money for lessons.

The first thing the Pro told me.....stop trying to hit the damn ball so hard....you are never going out outdrive John Daly. The next thing he said made the most sense to me......

He said...remember when your HS Baseball coach taught you to drive the ball right up the middle of the field every time......well that is golf too....yu don't have to hit the home run ball, just get it straight down the fairway on your drive and learn to play a short game and putt well.

Best advice every....I actually rarely use my driver, save for a really long Par 5.....and my golf game (before my heart attack) vastly improved.

I suddenly became the guy people would call if they needed to fill out a 4 some and not drag out the day chasing balls.

Yep. He was making plays all over the place in their preseason games.

It's almost as though combine numbers are a stupid way to determine whether a guy can play or not *cough* Mecole Hardman *cough* Johnathan Ross *hack* Tom Brady *cough*

A spoonful of humility does a career good, bud.

Then I watched the second half and he sure he threw some good balls off platform, he threw some good balls. He also threw some balls away pretty early. He also eliminated half the field really early in a lot of snaps.

We'll see, and I'm the only guy on the ****ing planet out on the dude - and I'm certainly open to being wrong. Stay with me here, in my mind what makes Mahomes the best is the grind. He is supremely talented, sure, but there have been talented dudes that could do some amazing shit. But transferring those skills to production is where Mahomes shines.

My opinion is that teams now need to watch out for dudes trying to do Mahomes stuff, rather that being able to do Mahomes stuff and playing football.

I haven't followed him at all, but I always thought Keke Coutee had juice enough to stick coming out of Tech. He was always the go to option in college, and I thought he was pretty solid. Eating the L on that one.

I laughed unreasonably hard at that.
I thought Coutee would stick in the NFL as well. Got in O'Brien's doghouse after he fumble late in a game. Attitude seemed to go to shit after that and never really seemed to recover from it.

Speaking of the Seahawks' WRs, I see Cody Thompson made their team. He was with the Chiefs in the 2019 preseason. I remember there was a bit of a buzz about him back then during the preseason games but ultimately getting cut and making the practice squad for part of the season. I was surprised to see he's still bouncing around the NFL and good for him for finally making a team.
