All that's relevant to me is the AAV of the new money. Trying to build this years salary into the 'model' without also accounting for the $8 million in pro-rated signing bonus he got as part of that deal is also disingenuous as hell.

We'd make the playoffs, but we may lose the 1 seed. An extra game in January makes the road harder no matter how you slice it.

Chiefs have more leverage. If that contract leaked is legit, I think the Chiefs should hold firm (54 over 2 is the type of deal Jones said he would accept before negotiations started).

The good news is we wont have to worry about that because the longest he can (will) sit out is 7 or 8 games. We have Jones for the playoffs regardless. And a fresher one at that should he sit out. And more cap space for next year.

Maybe Andy Reid can still win Super Bowls without tricking the players into believing in that Family stuff, but he has needed that Family stuff so far.

If the Chiefs go a few Mahomes years before winning another Super Bowl, the dopes around here will blame Chris Jones for asking for more money and getting owned in the negotiation?

If he doesn't have a contract he HAS to play harder than he ever has had to before. Imagine if he went out...looked slow and got no sacks. His value would plummet when he hit the open market.
