If he appears week one, which is looking less likely by the day, sure it could mean he genuinely wants to play.

If he shows up after week 8, it's not because he wants to play, it's because that's the latest possible time for him to report to fulfill his final year on this deal.

Good luck dodging the franchise tag and trade though. Tyreek never ****ed us out of any games, so it's highly unlikely Chris will have any say on where he's dealt if a trade scenario occurs.

Face it. Your hero is turning out to be a major distraction to this team, wants more than he has ever been worth, and is proving that he and his agent are completely reeruned in the process.

While it would benefit the team to get him back and the constant questions about his dumb ****ing ass ceasing, I'm still open to watching his stock plummet as Mahomes and Co tear ass through the first 8 weeks of the season without him, and prove that Jonesey is a luxury, nothing more.

Warren Sapp was an All Pro at 29 and 30 yet still had a 10 sack season at 34.

John Randle had 15.5 sacks at age 30. His age 28/29 seasons he averaged 11 sacks and age 31/32 seasons averaged 10.25 sacks. He had 11 sacks at age 34.

I’d have no problem paying him at an elite level through his age 31 season in 2025.

Not arguing about those other guys. Not arguing that 'Father Tme' doesn't always win. Literally just saying that AD wasn't 'plagued' by injuries in 2022, and that AD's production was affected far more by the quality of the DL around him and the entire defensive unit, than by his age. Which happen to be facts, not supposition or false statements.

If you're still on the 'Veach ****ed up' train of thought, you're just ****ing stupid. Of course he thinks a 10 million gap is easy to bridge, if you're negotiating with ANYBODY that has a lick of common sense it would be. Not going to blame him for not having the foresight to see that Jones and his agents would flip the table and go home after Williams didn't get the money that would help their case instead of just hashing this out and meeting in the middle. This is just ****ing idiocy by Jones and his agents.

I think Chris Jones is an elite DT. That being said, we should have let him go 2 seasons ago. Maybe we don’t win the Super Bowl last year but I think we still would have. Jones is an aging DT that specializes is pass rushing and is not consistent against the run. I wish he would buck up and stay but at the same time, buh-bye

What's your point exactly and how does your post rebut anything I said? What does he gain from coming in and half assing it? Half assing it will probably lead to injury and then the Chiefs don't even want to franchise him and teams will be skeptical if he gets injured or plays like shit going into his 30s.

Say any of the above is true, but how does that equate to him dogging it and coming in out of shape? I can understand him coming in a bit rusty, but thats not dogging it and coming in out of shape. He was arguably the best defender in the entire NFL last season, so if anyone could come in half way through the season and wreck shit I'd say he could be that guy.

It was a stupid ****ing post that literally made no sense, so it needed called out.

You don’t think it’s reasonable he would want a long term contract from the Chiefs if all those things were said by him? Why would he only want a 2 year extension if that were the case? It’s not like he’s gonna have a bigger opportunity at the end of those 2 years to land another big FA contract as a 32 year old DT.

A 2 year deal (extension) makes no sense for Chris and his agents. It does, however, make a lot of sense for the Chiefs . . . . .
This is an interesting thought. You pair that with Chris having to watch us let frank Clark go and he may be wanting a longer commitment. You'd think after he started to decline he could be a Dunlap type signing for us and rotate in only on obvious passing downs in the twighlight years.

Not consistent against the run? Based on what? He just had his second best season against the run as per PFF and ranked 7th amongst all DTs.

And before anyone says “Blah blah PFF doesn’t know what it’s talking about,” I would say Pete is wrong much more than PFF.

JFC, The point is not to have the most cap space, or to be the best budgeter, for ****'s sake.

The whole point is TO WIN SUPER BOWLS.

Idiot.

Whatever you want to get into is fine. I am not a fan of his run defense. And he has how many sacks in the playoffs?
