Per Nick Wright the offer is a 2yr, ~$27M/per; CJ & his dumbshit agents want more... they don't see the Aaron Donald contract as the outlier that it is.

Every game CJ sits out = higher probability he gets franchise tagged again, then good luck landing that big deal, post 30. Each game he sits out = -1.1M in his pocket, and -1.1M from his 23 cap number... the number we pay 120% of on franchise tag. So go ahead, be an idiot, lose out on ~$10M this year, then get franchised next season at $24M cap hit.

FWIW they talked about Chris and Bosa yesterday for a bit on Sirius XM. Mentioned that contracts were there for both that the teams think is more than fair but Donald's stupid contract is what they want to match/exceed.

Well both teams apparently suggested matching that through incentives but both Bosa and Chris' agents apparently didn't think they needed to prove they were on Donald's level and did so last year so they want that money gauranteed.

This is getting tiring

Ok that provides some different context. Can’t compare to quinnen williams who will take less money for longer guarantees. It isn’t even aaron donald money since he got one more year guaranteed. So jones is trying to claim he’s meeting halfway by taking one less year.

It’s still crazy but thats important context. From what I remember, that was a sore spot for tyreek too. Less about $ and more about # of guaranteed years

It did work out for him in terms of winning a SB, which is the goal.

But they're about to absolutely crater out. I wouldn't be shocked if Donald and or Kupp end up elsewhere this year.

Right now he's been reported to the league as "reserve/did not report" so he can sit at home while his weekly game checks go back to us as cap space.

In the event he continues to sit out into November, I could see Veach thinking about using a designation to suspend him from the team for the rest of the season so he couldn't show up. That would be a hell of a bargaining chip.

What Donald did in terms of setting the market is exactly what Mahomes did a few years ago. It is what it is. Salaries are ballooning for the marquee players at the marquee positions. Every player believes they are as good or better than the guy that got paid before him. Same as it has always been since FA began in the 90s.
