Well, if they show him on the screen, he'll probably get what he deserves. (Whatever that may be, boos or cheers).

Wtf is this narrative
True but the point is mahomes could demand more. Hell he could hold out now and the chiefs would pay him. Then Chris Jones doesn't even get an offer on the table.

Chris Jones being a tard and not negotiating in good faith is no reason to go full Patriots when it comes to letting good players walk.

Agreed, but at this point there might not be an option unless Jones is willing to budge on his demands.

Hell, it's like showing up to an ex-wife's wedding uninvited.

Dude - they're moving on without you. You gonna stand in the concourse with a boom box and hope they realize they really love you afterall?

There's just been a lot more elite edge rushers than there have elite pass rushing DTs. It's the same reason why Travis Kelce is paid so little. There hasn't been many TEs worthy of getting paid a shit ton, so they haven't been able to run up the tab so to speak.

I agree if you're talking about some DT arguing whether he should 6th or 7th on the DT pay ladder.

But a guy who gets 15.5 sacks from the inside has strong a case to argue that he's as valuable to the team as the top DEs. Position didn't matter when Donald got his contract. Why should it be so important for Jones?

The real arguments imo are more about Jones expected production going forward past age 30, and the fact that he's really only had two all-world seasons and a bunch of very good ones. Whereas Donald won DOPY 3 times and had 9 all-pro (or w/e) seasons in a row. DJ's left nut summed that part of it up really well somewhere way back itt. I think what the Chiefs are offering him is fair, but also way lower than he'd get on the open market right now.

And it was always a bargain. Jones' contract won't be.

No disagreements. I just don't think Jones will be the one who changes that, especially due to his age. We will see though and I will eat crow if I am wrong.
