His restructuring bonus was 7mm this year. So I believe it'd be more like 120% of 17mm-ish (there are also some small sack incentives and it's not entirely clear how that affects it).

Either way, CJ won't be getting the numbers he and the Kuntz brothers are demanding. Tag his ass next year, then trade him. It will likely be a non-exclusive FT:

Additionally, each tag comes with different bargaining rights and guaranteed assets for both the player and team. Aptly named, an exclusive tag gives the team exclusive negotiating rights. Should the player reject the offer, they are unable to sign with another NFL team for that entire season. Meanwhile, non-exclusive tags allow players to negotiate with other teams. If they receive an offer, their current team has the opportunity to match. If they opt not to match the offer, they’re entitled to receive two first-round draft picks in exchange.

I'm a fan of Chris and think he's a great player. I've felt a little sorry for him since he finds himself in the position of being the third best player on the team. A lot of teams would pay him because he's their best player. But when you're the third best player and the other two guys take below market deals because they like showing up to work in the morning, it starts making you look bad.

yep like i said, he is in burning bridges territory, no way it doesn't get worse from here out.

Longer it goes the worse it gets and the Chiefs aren't blinking so he will likely throw more of a temper tantrum. His agents don't understand optics or math apparently so I expect some more trash advice there.

Chiefs should be looking to move on asap and if it doesn't make sense to right this moment then bury him in his bed that he's made and ship his ass out next year.

But it's a hell of alot easier to replace the good solid player like Willie Gay or Justin Reid than it is a Tyreek Hill or Chris Jones.

Like I say, I wouldn't disagree. I wouldn't hate a strategy of paying a guy like Jones and cobbling stuff together around him rather than spreading it evenly.

I guess the fortunate thing for us is we don't have anyone close to the caliber of Hill/CJ that will be needing a market setting contract anytime soon, so I don't see any fallout with our players regardless of how this plays out.
